Rayonier Lumber seeks candidates for the Quality Control Manager position at their Warren, AR Lumber Mill. Successful candidates will manage the site quality control and kilns personnel. This position also oversees rough lumber and log inventories and is an integral site leader supporting the entire facility and the strategic decision-making process. Most importantly, the QC Manager drives safety from the top down, promoting and encouraging safe work behavior with a goal of zero recordable incidents.
The salary range for this position is $86,775-$144,625
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation rang for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
This position is bonus eligible, with a target value of 10% of salary.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain a safe facility and a work atmosphere conducive to promoting and encouraging safe work behavior and a goal of zero recordable incidents.
- Participate, document, and champion all safety activities including training, regular safety meetings, Plant Wide Safety Team participation, and promote near miss/hazard recognition reporting and timely correction.
- Hold employees accountable for safe work practices and behaviors.
- Assure all key controls under Sarbanes/Oxley (SOX) and other federal and state regulatory rules are followed and reported.
- Actively participate in strategic and operational business planning and site decision-making as a core member of the site managerial team.
- Support peers and reports promoting team values and lend additional support through personal strengths or talents.
- Provide leadership and development of both salaried and hourly employees through training, coaching, and feedback.
- Encourage employee involvement, information sharing, and problem-solving.
- Seek and provide developmental opportunities to subordinates.
- Manage the activities of all assigned personnel to ensure that plant critical objectives are achieved using acceptable practices in compliance with all federal and state laws and bargained contract language when applicable. Maintain effective relationship with union.
- Support continual improvement and identify modern technologies or processes.
- Oversee projects, changes, tests relevant to area of responsibility.
- Represent the Company with integrity and professionalism at all times both while at work and as a representative at outside training and events.
- Oversee Site QC Program including raw materials, lumber manufacturing, tests, simulations, optimizers, calibrations, machine performance, grade inspections, grade yield, recoveries, maximization of profitability and the addressing of customer complaints.
- Oversee all aspects of Kilns including process scheduling, housekeeping, personnel, maintenance, reliability.
- Oversee and co-manage log and rough lumber inventories.
- Maintain budgeted KPIs with emphasis on costs, grade yield, recovery, and production.
- Communicate and document professionally and effectively through accurate and meaningful analysis, presentations, reviews, graphs, spreadsheets to members
- Operate the assigned areas and capital projects in compliance with environmental regulations and other state/federal laws/regulations to ensure compliance.
Working Conditions:
- Office and Mill work environment.
- Heat, cold, noise, dust, grease/oils and working around moving machinery.
- Working with sharp edges on a frequent basis.
Essential Physical Functions:
- Some mental/physical fatigue from computer terminal use.
- The climbing of stairs and catwalks at elevated heights.
- The use and reading of micrometers and associated measurement tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Five years of experience in manufacturing or management/supervision preferred.
- High-level proficiency in MS Office, Word and Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with machine optimization preferred.
