Job Title: Quality Control ManagerJob Description

The Quality Control Manager leads the Quality Control laboratory and incoming sampling functions for a manufacturing facility, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable analytical support for operations and customer requirements. This role oversees raw material, finished product, and stability testing, drives laboratory compliance and operational efficiency, and aligns QC capabilities with current and future business needs. The Quality Control Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional partners to improve performance, support growth, reduce risk, and ensure the laboratory is prepared to meet evolving regulatory and customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Quality Control laboratory and incoming sampling activities to support manufacturing operations and customer requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for analytical, raw material, finished product, and stability testing to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable laboratory performance.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of chemists, microbiologists, analysts, and laboratory personnel, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, development planning, and succession planning.
  • Ensure all laboratory activities comply with applicable cGMP, cGLP, safety, quality, regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory data integrity through robust documentation practices, effective system controls, comprehensive analyst training, and timely investigation of nonconformances.
  • Oversee and improve laboratory quality systems, including SOP governance, training compliance, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, calibration, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Own and monitor key QC performance metrics such as testing turnaround time, first-time-right performance, calibration and training compliance, and laboratory deviations and nonconformances.
  • Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to identify root causes, reduce repeat issues, and improve first-time-right results.
  • Develop and execute laboratory capacity plans to support production schedules, new business opportunities, customer and internal requirements, equipment needs, and future site strategy and growth.
  • Ensure stability testing requirements are planned, executed, reviewed, and completed in accordance with applicable procedures and regulatory expectations.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to resolve issues, support production priorities, improve quality performance, and advance site objectives.
  • Identify, lead, and sustain continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory safety, compliance, productivity, utilization, and overall operational performance.
  • Support customer complaint investigations, technical inquiries, internal nonconformance investigations, and other business-critical issue resolution activities.
  • Maintain the QC laboratory in a state of readiness for internal, customer, regulatory, and global audits, ensuring documentation and practices meet audit standards.
  • Build and foster a laboratory culture focused on safety, compliance, accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Quality Control management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a technical laboratory team in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience in quality control and quality assurance within cGMP and cGLP manufacturing settings.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems, including change control processes.
  • Experience with analytical testing operations, laboratory instrumentation, method lifecycles, and stability programs.
  • Proficiency with electronic laboratory systems and other digital laboratory tools.
  • ERP system experience.
  • Technical expertise in HPLC, microbiology, raw material testing, finished product testing, and stability testing.
  • Proven ability to lead people, build talent, manage performance, and create an accountable team culture.
  • Experience managing and balancing departmental budgets with business and operational needs.
  • Ability to use metrics, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools to improve laboratory performance.
  • Ability to balance compliance requirements with customer needs, production priorities, and business growth objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to present complex technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • High level of integrity and a strong commitment to ethical practices in quality and compliance.
  • Demonstrated agility in managing change and driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Technical Services, Supply Chain, Engineering, and EHS.
  • Proven track record of improving laboratory safety, compliance, productivity, and utilization through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting internal, customer, regulatory, and global audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to support customer complaint investigations and technical inquiries.
  • Ability to cultivate a collaborative, high-performance laboratory culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility with an on-site Quality Control laboratory that supports production through analytical, microbiological, raw material, finished product, and stability testing. The environment is highly regulated, operating under cGMP and cGLP requirements, with extensive use of laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC and other analytical tools, electronic laboratory systems, and ERP platforms. Work involves close collaboration with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, technical services, supply chain, engineering, and EHS teams, and requires readiness for internal, customer, regulatory, and global audits. The laboratory culture emphasizes safety, compliance, accountability, technical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on data integrity and robust documentation practices.

This is a Permanent position based out of West Point, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
