QC Scientist I


Location: Cincinnati, OH

Position Summary


We are seeking a motivated QC Scientist I to join our Analytical Chemistry Laboratory in Cincinnati, OH. In this role, you will perform routine analytical testing to support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations through residual active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and detergent analysis. The successful candidate will conduct laboratory testing, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with cGMP, GLP, and company quality standards while contributing to a fast-paced quality control environment.


Key Responsibilities


+ Perform routine chemical analysis of residual swab samples using validated analytical methods.

+ Conduct pharmaceutical residual testing utilizing HPLC, Mass Spectrometry, and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) instrumentation.

+ Prepare laboratory reagents, mobile phases, diluents, standards, and test solutions.

+ Perform daily instrument calibrations, verifications, and routine maintenance as required.

+ Accurately document analytical testing, observations, and results in laboratory systems.

+ Identify, investigate, and report out-of-specification (OOS), atypical, or unexpected analytical results.

+ Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready.

+ Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and company safety policies.

+ Support internal manufacturing and development teams through timely completion of testing assignments.

+ Effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and turnaround time expectations.

+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and additional laboratory assignments as needed.


Required Qualifications


+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or another physical science discipline.

+ Working knowledge of HPLC and Mass Spectrometry theory and laboratory operation.

+ Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory techniques.

+ Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.

+ Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

+ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a laboratory team.

+ Comfortable working in a fast-paced pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.


Preferred Qualifications


+ 1–2 years of laboratory experience performing chromatographic analysis.

+ Experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or cGMP-regulated laboratory.

+ Familiarity with quality systems, laboratory documentation, and regulatory requirements.

+ Experience with TOC analysis is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


+ Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis techniques.

+ Understanding of pharmaceutical quality systems and regulatory compliance.

+ Ability to recognize analytical trends and troubleshoot laboratory issues.

+ Strong mathematical and analytical skills for data interpretation and statistical evaluation.

+ Ability to interpret technical procedures, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage workload, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.


Physical Requirements


+ Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.

+ Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds .

+ Manual dexterity sufficient to operate laboratory instruments and computer equipment.

+ Ability to use laboratory equipment and computer systems for prolonged periods.

+ Visual acuity to read technical documents and instrument displays.

+ Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.


Work Schedule


+ Initial training will be conducted on a first-shift schedule .

+ Upon completion of training, this position will most likely transition to a second-shift schedule .

+ Flexibility to work alternate shifts based on business needs is required.


Compensation


+ Pay Rate:$25.00 per hour
