Summary and Objective

To participate in and observe all work activities in the facility. To give guidance to employees when needed and conduct daily toolbox meetings. Must actively participate in weekly safety meetings and random audits and provide daily reports to management.

 

Position Type

 Schedule of 7/7 includes rotation of day and night positions.  (10-12 hours per day.)

 

Job Requirements/Competencies

Supervisory Role

Responsible for enforcing safety and environmental policies for everyone inside the facility

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Display and encourage teamwork among employees and customers 
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all employees and clients
  • Actively participate in company WISE program
  • Act as a mentor per company Mentoring and SSE programs
  • Communicate effectively with peers, clients, and members of management
  • Utilize Stop Work Authority when necessary
  • Adhere to and comply with company policies, OSHA, and environmental regulations
  • Abide by, convey, and enforce all safety rules, including the wear of PPE for oneself and others, including third-party personnel on site at the facility
  • Operate in the company Online Maintenance Program
  • Operate in the company Management System (UniSea)
  • Operate in the company Requisition System
  • Promote the company in a positive light, both inside and outside of the workplace
  • Submit weekly report to upper management
  • Observe and participate in field activities daily
  • Provide guidance to employees when needed
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings
  • Actively participate and lead weekly safety meetings and random audits
  • Evaluate and assist in the identification/mitigation of found hazards to eliminate exposures and impacts that adversely affect the safety and health of employees, the environment, and quality of the Company's products and services
  • Ensure employees receive training and certifications in conformance with the OSHA, ANSI, and any other regulatory body rules and regulations
  • Compile periodic analyses describing the safety record of the facility, projects, and CIW as a whole
  • Develop and distribute safety notices or bulletins to highlight problems and suggest solutions; provide visual aids, safety bulletins, booklets, and other materials as needed
  • Visit jobs regularly to assist crews in developing and maintaining a safe and effective job plan
  • Inspect projects for safety problems and recommend improvements to the job supervisors
  • Promote interest and enthusiasm for safety through motivation, recognition, and incentives throughout the organization
  • Issue Permit to Work when necessary
  • Initiate permits when they are required  
  • Investigate and report on incidents, near misses, spills, etc., determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Maintain records and reports regarding QHSE matters
  • Conduct RA audits and reviews
  • Recommend, distribute, inspect, and document safety equipment when necessary
  • Work closely with management in developing safety policies and procedures that are relevant to the scope of work
  • Attend professional training, if necessary, to promote the company as an industry leader
  • Stay current with national and international, if applicable, rules and regulations
  • Ensure the facility complies with all local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Notify qualified individuals for emergency response when conducted
  • Inspect and deploy emergency equipment semi-annually for the facility
  • Ensure all employees are wearing their proper PPE for job assignment
  • Maintain inventory of First Aid stations and safety supplies
  • Train new employees on safety policies and topics
  • Train and certify all equipment operators according to government standards as requested
  • Ensure daily, monthly, and quarterly inspections and audits are complete along with the proper documents
  • May be required to assist with yard operations
  • Transport personnel to facilities of need
  • Complete all tasks assigned by a supervisor not to exceed the physical requirements of the job description

 

Work Environment

  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, electrical hazards, vibration noise, fumes, smoke, dust, gases, chemicals, and a variety of other physical conditions
  • May be required to work alone and in confined areas
  • May be required to perform work at an alternate location other than the port facility
  • Subject to adverse weather conditions including high winds, cold, and heat

 

Physical Requirements

  • While performing job duties, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear; and taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
