    Description

    CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years is seeking an experienced Qualification and Process Engineer III to support high-volume optical fiber cable manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for an engineer who excels at process optimization, manufacturing qualification, statistical analysis, and continuous improvement while driving product quality, yield, and operational performance. Type: Contract Job Title: Qualification and Process Engineer III - Optical Fiber Cable Manufacturing Location: Newton, NC Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Newton, NC Pay Rate: $Based on experience Work Hours: M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Optical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Primary Responsibilities Lead qualification and validation of new manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, materials, and product introductions. Optimize optical fiber cable manufacturing processes to improve quality, throughput, yield, and cost performance. Analyze manufacturing data using JMP and advanced statistical techniques to improve process capability and reduce variation. Develop and execute qualification protocols, process characterization studies, and engineering trials. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing and quality issues. Support startup and scale-up of new cable products and manufacturing processes. Create and maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, PFMEAs, control plans, and qualification reports. Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance, Automation, and Supply Chain teams to drive continuous improvement. Mentor engineers and technicians while promoting data-driven problem solving throughout the organization. Required Qualifications 5+ years of process engineering or manufacturing engineering experience within optical fiber cable manufacturing, wire and cable, polymer extrusion, or another continuous manufacturing environment. Advanced proficiency with JMP statistical software. Strong understanding of optical fiber cable manufacturing processes and product quality requirements. Experience leading process qualifications, validation activities, and process capability improvement initiatives. Knowledge of DOE, SPC, regression analysis, ANOVA, capability studies, and statistical process analysis. Excellent troubleshooting, technical writing, project management, and cross-functional communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Materials Science, Data Analytics, or a related field. Experience with ribbon manufacturing, SZ stranding, jacketing extrusion, armoring, or high-fiber-count cable production. Experience with Minitab, MES systems, manufacturing dashboards, or automated process data collection. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification. Knowledge of Telcordia, IEC, ICEA, TIA, or other fiber optic cable qualification standards. Additional Information No third party resumes will be accepted.
