The Quality and Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring the organization's products and services meet company quality requirements, addressing quality concerns and driving quality improvements through root cause analysis, while also optimizing production processes by defining current state, collaborating with a cross functional team to define a future state, perform a gap analysis, and manage a project plan achieve the future state.

A successful candidate will be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and be familiar with tools such as time studies, takt time/cycle time, value stream mapping, Six Sigma, 5S methodology, Pareto, SPC, and able to define operator standard work to ensure quality is built and not inspected into the product.

Apply and train VSM, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S skills to effectively map the manufacturing processes to identify and implement process improvement opportunities and developing/documenting factory capacity and bottleneck analyses.
Develop capacity improvement plans for inclusion into CI or capital planning.
Develop dashboards and reporting tools to visually communicate key quality metrics and trends to stakeholders.
Must have a change agent mindset to lead factory initiatives around safety, quality, continuous improvement (CI), lean manufacturing, mistake proofing, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Lead cultural change to a lean philosophy through communication of vision and expectations.
Support and develop implement project plans to achieve Future State.
Assess and recommend the purchasing of manufacturing equipment, installation and commission. Facilitate operational cost reduction through productivity or material cost improvements supporting annual objectives.
Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing procedures/processes, including instruction manuals, documentation, pictures, step by step procedures, and training.
Conduct periodic audits of in-process quality checklists, forms, and documentation to ensure compliance with standards.
Assists in the development, implementation, and adherence to the quality program.
Lead the analysis of warranty claims to identify root causes and trends, implementing corrective actions to address recurring issues.
Experience with Toyota Production System (TPS), or some other enterprise lean implementation methodology is a bonus.
Other Duties as Assigned

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent previous work history in a manufacturing environment
Minimum 5 years practical experience in a similar setting
Proficient with AutoCAD & Microsoft Office Apps (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word)
Lean manufacturing training and experience
Experience as a quality or manufacturing engineer in a mission critical business space
Project management experience is a must
Strong ability to explain topics and influence others
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Bias to action and driving results
Ability to exercise professional influence with tact and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and conducting hands-on inspections and audits
Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
