Description

Job Summary: Responsible for inspection and examination of raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods to ensure their conformance with established quality standards and customer specifications, moving among departments and facilities as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional examinations of daily production runs including changeover/setups, work in-process and finished goods to identify defects for quality assurance. Performs all responsibilities according to customer specifications and Industries Program standards for quality, production rate, and safety.

  • Complete all required inspection reports accurately.

  • Ensure production lines are running accurately with correct materials and information, which includes printing of labels.

  • Assist with receiving inspection against specification requirements and/or company requirements; ensure material is appropriately identified.

  • Ensure correct set up of core printer, individual bar code, and bag and carton labels. This includes printing labels for production runs and label stock when needed.

  • Identify, record, and segregate nonconforming material appropriately.

  • Transfer acceptable rolls to the turntable for packing. Remove defective rolls for donation (seconds) or scrap.

  • In a timely manner, notify machine operator of any tape rolls that do not meet quality standards.

  • Inspect returned goods according to specification and company requirements. Repackage materials as needed to be placed back into finished goods, or identify for waste.

  • Complete inspection reports including cases produced and scrap from each jumbo roll.

  • Maintain and protect gauges in their possession in good working order. Report any damage or concern in a timely manner.

  • Perform other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to identify manufacturer's color-coded product defect tags on jumbo tape rolls.

  • Must be able to use and obtain quality-related information from inspection tools, such as tape measures, “Go/No-Go” gauges, and calipers.

  • Experience working in quality assurance in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.

  • Understanding of quality control processes and procedures. Experience with ISO 9001 preferred.

  • Ability to maintain timely, accurate records of production and quality.

  • Ability to travel independently between facilities.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and personal vehicle insurance. (May need to drive to another location.)

  • Ability to work independently and with other team members.

  • Ability to navigate independently to and from workstation, bathrooms and break area.

  • Must be able to enter the building and navigate to workstation independently.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to inspect products visually and tactilely for quality assurance.

  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time and move throughout the production area.

  • Ability to use a computer.

  • Must be able to walk, bend, twist, and reach in all directions.

  • Must have the ability to utilize two hands.

Work Environment

  • Indoor, climate- controlled industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to high levels of noise.

  • In accordance with CABVI's Safety Program and OSHA's standards for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Approved hearing must be worn at all times while in the tape and paper room with the exception of break and meal periods.

  • Safety glasses are to be worn at all times while on the production floor, which includes all areas.

  • Steel toe or composite toe shoes are to be worn while on the production floor, which includes all areas.
