Job Description
Position Summary
The Precision Sheet Metal Quality & Manufacturing Excellence Lead serves as the technical authority for quality assurance, process compliance, and operator development within a high-mix precision sheet metal manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for in-process quality verification, first article inspections, disposition approval, root cause analysis, quality coaching, and hands-on training of press brake and hardware installation operators.
This position bridges Quality and Manufacturing by ensuring products meet customer requirements while developing operator skill levels, improving process capability, and reducing defects through standardized work practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, GD&T, blueprint interpretation, press brake forming, hardware installation processes, inspection methodologies, and manufacturing best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Leadership
Manufacturing Process Expertise
Provide technical support for press brake operations including:
Bend sequence optimization
Tool selection
Setup verification
Dimensional troubleshooting
Forming best practices
Provide technical support for hardware installation processes including:
PEM insertion
Hardware verification
Setup approval
Process troubleshooting
Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with established standards.
Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
Training and Workforce Development
Function as a trainer for press brake and hardware operators.
Develop and maintain operator qualification and certification programs.
Train employees on:
Blueprint reading
GD&T interpretation
Measurement techniques
Quality standards
First piece inspection requirements
Process control methods
Create work instructions, training materials, and standardized operating procedures.
Evaluate operator competency and provide ongoing coaching.
Mentor developing operators to increase technical proficiency and cross-functional capabilities.

This position combines responsibilities typically associated with:
The role requires advanced technical expertise, independent decision-making authority regarding product acceptance and disposition, workforce development responsibilities, and direct influence over manufacturing quality performance. Because of the combination of quality ownership, technical leadership, and operator training responsibilities, this position is classified above a traditional Quality Inspector or Quality Technician role.
Recommended Pay Range: $36.00-$42.00 per hour
Target Rate: $38.00 per hour
