Job Description

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer who enjoys uncovering risks before they become problems, improving software quality through automation, and helping teams deliver exceptional solutions with confidence. This opportunity is a contract position and offers a blend of hands-on testing, test automation, quality leadership, and collaboration within an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with developers and project teams to define and enhance testing strategies, automation frameworks, and quality practices.
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual test solutions.
  • Lead testing efforts throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through production release.
  • Create and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data for functional, integration, regression, data validation, and performance testing.
  • Review business requirements, technical designs, and acceptance criteria to identify risks, gaps, and testability concerns.
  • Identify, document, communicate, and track defects through resolution.
  • Develop QA metrics, dashboards, and reporting to monitor quality trends and support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate test environments, test data preparation, and release activities with project teams.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement sessions, and design reviews while advocating for quality-focused development practices.
  • Mentor team members on testing methodologies, automation practices, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and the ongoing evolution of QA practices.
  • Develop risk-based testing strategies that provide appropriate test coverage and traceability across multiple initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of IT, software development, quality assurance, or related experience, including 3-5 years of hands-on QA, test automation, or software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience designing and executing manual and automated testing strategies.
  • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into comprehensive test cases and test scenarios.
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies including functional, regression, integration, system, black-box, white-box, gray-box, and negative testing.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean.
  • Experience testing APIs, integrations, and data flows across distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, ThunderClient, SOAP UI, or similar solutions.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience validating data quality, integrity, transformations, and reporting accuracy.
  • Experience with defect management, QA reporting, and quality metrics.
  • Familiarity with test management tools such as Azure DevOps, Microsoft Test Manager, Quality Center, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and REST APIs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with application monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace or Azure monitoring solutions.
  • Experience leading quality initiatives across multiple projects or teams.
  • Experience mentoring QA professionals and promoting quality best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications and complex data integrations.

The base range for this contract position is $55.00 - $65.00  per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.
