Position DescriptionTitle: Quality Assurance ManagerDepartment: Quality AssuranceImmediate Supervisor: Site Quality ManagerStatus: Salaried ExemptPosition Purpose: Develop, implement, and sustain quality management systems and procedures within our tape manufacturing facility. This role ensures products meet internal specifications and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, raw material qualifications and scrap reduction. The Quality Manager serves as the primary voice of quality on-site and partners closely with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, Product Management, Engineering and Customer Service.
Principle Accountabilities
Drive a culture of quality accountability across production and supporting functions.Oversee and manage Quality Lab, Lab Technician(s) and daily QC testing for various grades of tape.Ensure calibration, maintenance and accuracy of lab equipmentManage first piece inspections, sampling requirements and sampling plans for trials.Collaborate with production to troubleshoot quality-related issues on coating, printing, slitting and packaging lines.Partner with Procurement to assess and monitor supplier performance as well as coordinate trials to qualify new raw materials.Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns and complaints.Lead root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective and preventative actions.Prepare customer-facing reports, data summaries, and technical documents.Drive quality related Lean, Six Sigma, and waste reduction initiatives.Use data analytics to identify trends and opportunities for process optimization.Lead cross-functional problem-solving events and improvement projects.Manage and ensure proper documentation for audits, product certifications and traceabilityAbility to work safely in a manufacturing environment with moving machinery, adhesives and varying temperature conditions.Occasional travel to suppliers, customers or sister plants.
Essential Skills and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field required5+ years of quality experience with at least 3 years of supervisory experience5+ years manufacturing experience - Paper manufacturing or converting preferred.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for interface with internal and external customers.
Knowledge of computer software and applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and software for statistical analysis.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects.Strong organizational skills required.Lean Six Sigma experience desired (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred).Proven track record of positive results as measured by quality KPIs.Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and lean practices.
