Seeking a QA Manager to join a Food & Beverage company in PA.

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance programs within a manufacturing environment. This role oversees quality systems, audit readiness, documentation control, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products consistently meet customer expectations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to the plant quality team, support cross-functional departments, and play a key role in driving food safety and quality performance across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems Management

  • Maintain and update quality assurance policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Administer product hold, disposition, and loss management programs.
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure food safety and quality programs remain effective and compliant with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Monitor implementation of quality systems and verify adherence to established standards.

Regulatory Compliance & Food Safety

  • Review and approve quality-related documentation, including validation protocols, change controls, deviations, and nonconformance reports.
  • Support compliance with applicable food safety regulations and quality management systems.
  • Develop, track, and verify corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Partner with operations and other departments to address quality concerns and regulatory requirements.

Audit Readiness & Program Leadership

  • Coordinate and lead third-party audits, food safety certification audits, and customer assessments.
  • Manage audit preparation activities and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Support internal audit programs and continuous improvement efforts across the facility.
  • Act as the primary quality representative during external inspections and assessments.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the Quality Assurance team.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, training, and daily work assignments.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, performance evaluations, and employee development activities.
  • Address employee relations matters and help resolve operational or quality-related issues.
  • Provide leadership coverage for senior quality management as needed.

Customer & Product Support

  • Serve as a key contact for customer quality inquiries, concerns, and audit activities.
  • Collaborate with product development and operations teams on new product launches and process improvements.
  • Support validation and verification activities for new equipment, processes, and products.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Biology, Chemistry, or another related scientific discipline preferred.
  • Associate degree combined with relevant industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working within food and beverage quality systems is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP principles, quality management systems, GMPs, and food safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.

  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, regulations, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to present information and communicate effectively with employees, customers, auditors, and leadership teams.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and effectively hear workplace discussions.
  • May occasionally stand, reach, climb, or balance while performing job duties.
  • Frequently lifts or carries up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds.
  • Requires close vision, color differentiation, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
  • Work environment may include exposure to wet or humid conditions, manufacturing equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Noise levels are generally moderate and consistent with a manufacturing environment.
