Job Description:
  • Client Manufacturing Services is an internal Client service specializing in the production of high-quality components through additive manufacturing (3D printing), CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, and assembly. We serve design engineers, product developers, operations engineers, and retail product concept testing teams across Client.
About the Role
  • AMS seeks a Quality Assurance Technician I to conduct inspections of machined, sheet metal, and 3D printed components using precision measuring equipment. You will perform quality inspections, support nonconforming product disposition, and assist with quality improvement initiatives.
  • This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of GD&T, and the ability to use various inspection equipment to ensure components meet quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Quality Control:
  • Conduct part inspections of machined, sheet metal, and 3D printed components using metrology equipment, micrometers, microscopes, optical comparators, gauge pins, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment
  • Verify parts meet engineering drawings and ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) specifications
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure quality standards
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records
  • Support first article inspections for new parts
Nonconforming Product Management:
  • Assist with Material Review Board (MRB) by working with cross-functional teams to disposition nonconforming product
  • Identify and report quality issues to Quality Lead and Quality Manager
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities
  • Track nonconforming parts and coordinate with manufacturing teams on resolution
RMA Support:
  • Assist with Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) from customers
  • Support creation of Failure Analysis Reports
  • Coordinate with Quality Lead on RMA resolution and corrective actions
  • Document quality issues and customer concerns
Process Improvement Support:
  • Assist in reducing in-process and final inspection time through process optimization
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve inspection efficiency
  • Provide feedback on inspection process improvements
Metrology Equipment Operation:
  • Operate inspection equipment including optical comparators and CMMs
  • Assist in creating programs for metrology equipment such as CMM, optical comparators, scanners, and articulating arms
  • Maintain inspection equipment and ensure proper calibration
  • Learn advanced metrology techniques and equipment operation
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams on quality issues and inspection requirements
  • Work with Quality Lead and Quality Manager on quality investigations
  • Support quality engineers with data collection and inspection activities
  • Communicate inspection results to production teams
Preferred:
  • 3+ years of quality experience in manufacturing environments
  • Experience operating high-tech inspection equipment such as optical comparators and CMMs
  • Experience with 3D printed components inspection
  • Technical certification or vocational training in quality inspection or metrology
  • Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production environments
  • Understanding of multiple manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, welding, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar certification
Top 3 Must Have Hard Skills:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and reading drawings
  • Familiarity with machined parts, sheet metal, powder coat, welding
Nice to haves:
  • Experience with 3D printed components inspection
  • Understanding of multiple manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, welding, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating)
  • Experience operating high-tech inspection equipment such as optical comparators and CMMs
