Quality Assurance Technician, Food Manufacturing
Location: Richmond, CA 94804
Pay Rate: $28.00 to $30.00 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Overtime: Must be flexible for overtime and occasional Saturday work based on production needs
  
Join Our Quality Assurance Team!
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Technician to join a fast-paced food manufacturing operation in Richmond, California. This position is being added to provide additional coverage and support to the Quality Assurance team.
 
The QA Technician will play a critical role in maintaining product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for product sampling and testing, quality documentation, data analysis, equipment calibration, HACCP coordination, and monitoring Critical Control Points, CCPs.
 
The ideal candidate has a strong background in food science, microbiology, quality assurance, or food manufacturing, along with hands-on experience with HACCP, GMPs, food safety programs, and laboratory testing.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Perform product sampling, testing, plating, reading, and recording of test results.
• Investigate and troubleshoot out-of-specification test results.
• Maintain accurate daily quality and production records.
• Perform data entry, tracking, analysis, and interpretation of quality results.
• Follow established QC Hold procedures for products that do not meet specifications.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs, and established quality standards.
• Monitor Critical Control Point, CCP, records and required monitoring frequencies.
• Coordinate HACCP team activities and support food safety programs.
• Manage and maintain product specifications.
• Support the investigation and follow-up of customer complaints and coordinate findings with production teams.
• Perform equipment calibration, basic troubleshooting, and laboratory equipment maintenance.
• Monitor trends in test results, identify deficiencies, and help develop corrective action plans.
• Communicate quality concerns and corrective actions to employees and management.
• Implement and support quality control processes and testing to ensure products meet established specifications and quality standards.
• Maintain laboratory and sanitation supply inventory.
• Support and maintain GMP, food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance programs.
• Assist with employee training related to GMPs, food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support 5S standards and maintain an organized, efficient work environment.
• Meet with the supervisor daily to discuss quality or food safety issues associated with production.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• HACCP certification required.
• Knowledge of microbiological, physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing methods.
• Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices, GMPs, Good Sanitation Practices, food safety requirements, and occupational safety standards.
• Experience implementing or supporting quality control testing and processes within a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate trends and identify corrective actions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and continually changing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating effectively with production and management teams.
• Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Flexibility to work overtime and occasional Saturdays based on workload and production needs.
 
Preferred Qualifications
• SQF Practitioner experience or certification preferred.
• Previous Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience within food, bakery, dairy, or other regulated food manufacturing environments.
• Experience with laboratory testing equipment, calibration, and maintenance.
 
Work Authorization Requirement
