    Quality Assurance Technician I
    Department: Quality/Regulatory, Distribution
    Location: Hanover Park, IL
    Type: Full-time
     
    Summary:
    The Quality Assurance Technician I supports quality assurance programs and regulatory compliance within the Hanover Park distribution warehouse, ensuring adherence to GFSI standards, GMP requirements, and HACCP principles. This role assists with all aspects of quality operations to help meet customer expectations, project deadlines, and food safety objectives while maintaining the highest standards of product quality.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
    • Review and approve work orders, project labels, and inventory in the inventory management system.
    • Release/Hold of materials in FBSS and/or LIMS.
    • Investigate, complete, and maintain documentation for quality complaints, incident reports, and critical holds.
    • Review lab results, log information, and create COAs.
    • Perform daily pre and post operational verification in the warehouse, and operation logbooks.
    • Perform monthly internal GMP audits and monitor follow-ups as necessary.
    • Monitor quality email inbox and complete any open inquiries.
    • Perform quality sampling related to customer specific testing and quality investigations.
    • Perform environmental testing, equipment calibration, chemical titrations, and other assigned duties in the warehouse on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
    • Assist in quality related training activities.
    • Coverage in sample lab and other quality activities during PTO
    Qualifications:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Required Education and/or Experience:
    • 1 - 2 years related experience in QA/QC or operations in the food industry.
    • HACCP Certification preferred.
    • Knowledge of FSMA, Food Industry, Dietary Supplements, and GFSI preferred.
    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Experience with Microsoft Office, word, excel, etc.
    • Experience with ERP systems 
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills 
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
    Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Work environment is normally in an office setting. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment
    • Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours
    • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
    • Other physical requirements include moderate standing and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting.
    • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas
    • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require
