QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN

Responsible for the product quality, food safety and regulatory compliance for goods manufactured in the facility. This position is responsible for inspecting in process, finished goods, production samples, raw materials and other items for conformance to quality specifications. Assures that daily production is meeting the standards set by the company and the customer for quality.

Major Duties & Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Examines daily production output during the shift. Inspects all production runs to ensure consistent quality standards and consistent output.
  • Compares completed products with samples to determine accuracy of completion and reports any defects.
  • Conducts daily/hourly testing in order to verify package strength, weights, units of measure, and consistency of production to standard.
  • Stops production line, blending department or outbound shipment if any defects are noted with raw materials or finished product. Notifies both operations and quality leaders immediately of any noted defects in production or materials.
  • Ensures that GMP guidelines are being met in all areas.
  • Notes any areas of deficiency and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Assists with investigation of customer complaints.
  • Inspects raw materials of questionable quality.
  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or materials as needed or requested.
  • Rejects defective materials and records reason(s) for defect and ensures that the defective materials are corrected or disposed of properly.
  • Responsible for completion of all weekly, monthly and yearly inspection reports and records.
  • Assists in maintaining records on file for review and audit.
  • Operates any diagnostic equipment necessary to perform job.
  • Assists other departments with lab and plant testing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive work experience in quality-related functions in a food manufacturing operation.
  • Prior experience working with supplements as an ingredient preferred
  • Allergen management, BRC/SQF and HACCP experience preferred.
  • Strong time management and planning skills to cope with a fast pace environment.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in the Microsoft suite of productivity applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US for any employer.
