Day in the Life

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you’ll partner closely with the Quality Manager at our plant and distribution center (DC) to keep products, people, and processes aligned with rigorous standards. Your day blends floor time with data work—moving from process audits and document control to leading quick-hit safety training and closing the loop on customer and internal complaints.

Your Impact

  • Be the right hand to the Quality Manager, translating standards into action on the floor.
  • Safeguard product integrity by auditing processes and coordinating rework and sorting.
  • Drive continuous improvement through KPI tracking, CAR compliance, and PAR ownership.
  • Champion safety by leading the DC Safety Committee and delivering 7‑minute safety training sessions.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the complaint process for internal and external customers: enter, track, receive, and help resolve issues through root cause analysis.
  • Conduct process audits and maintain meticulous document control (safety, training, and quality).
  • Oversee non‑conforming supplier defects and returns; coordinate sorting and rework activities.
  • Manage weekly KPIs and ensure compliance with Corrective Action Reports (CAR).
  • Own Preventive Action Reports (PAR) and follow through to closure.
  • Lead the Safety Committee in the DC; conduct 7‑minute safety training for all DC employees.
  • Complete safety and incident forms with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform accurate, timely data entry to support quality systems.

What You Bring

  • Excellent attendance and reliability.
  • Superior time management; self‑driven and self‑motivated.
  • Outstanding organization and sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret verbal and written instructions.
  • Comfort juggling multiple priorities and situations.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret operating instructions, training materials, and procedure manuals.
  • Clear, confident communication with employees, managers, and customers.
  • Excellent listening skills, with the ability to provide both positive and corrective feedback.

Requirements

  • Computer literacy with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; related college coursework and/or an associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience; exposure to LEAN manufacturing, ISO, and Six Sigma preferred; OSHA or safety-related background is a plus.

Mathematical & Reasoning

  • Read a tape measure quickly and accurately.
  • Calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates; apply high‑school level math.
  • Troubleshoot practical problems where limited standardization exists; interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly walk, talk, and hear; frequently stand, use hands to finger/handle/feel, and reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes/airborne particles.
  • Loud noise level typical of an active plant/DC environment.

How Success Is Measured

  • Operating Standards: Meet or exceed targets in quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Personal Growth: Set and achieve annual professional goals in partnership with your supervisor.
  • Employee Relations: Demonstrate respectful communication and positive workplace interactions.
  • Creativity: Contribute new ideas that move the business forward.
