Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to support product inspection, testing, specialized packaging, and quality activities within a manufacturing operation in Bristol, RI.

This position supports multiple stages of the manufacturing and shipping process, including in-process and final inspection, specialized packaging, visual inspection, shipping and receiving, calibration, inventory transactions, and customer-required over-inspection.

The technician will use precision measuring equipment and inspection procedures to ensure manufactured products meet customer requirements. Depending on experience and assignment, the position may also involve operation and programming of a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

The specialized packaging department represents the final stage before products are shipped to customers, making accuracy, attention to detail, proper documentation, and strict adherence to work instructions critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection & Testing

  • Perform product testing and final inspection on manufactured products.
  • Conduct visual inspections and screen parts according to Quality Department requirements.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, height stands, and CMM equipment.
  • Operate and, when required, program Coordinate Measuring Machine equipment.
  • Complete detailed inspection plans and reports to verify products meet customer requirements.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming materials.
  • Complete nonconforming material reports and related documentation.
  • Support customer-required over-inspection activities.
  • Assist with in-process and final inspections.
  • Support calibration-related activities.
  • Assist with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) documentation.

Specialized Packaging & Material Control

  • Review work-order routings to determine proper packaging methods and requirements.
  • Retrieve required information from QAD when work-order routing information is unavailable.
  • Weigh, count, clean, visually inspect, and package parts according to work instructions and visual aids.
  • Package products according to department and customer-specific requirements.
  • Record production and inspection information on work orders and inspection reports.
  • Report problems or discrepancies as they arise.
  • Issue materials to work orders through QAD.
  • Receive completed products against work orders in QAD.
  • Verify inventory transactions for accuracy.
  • Complete required packing-slip verification.
  • Maintain inventory of packaging and department supplies.
  • Submit supply requisitions to Purchasing when required.
  • Perform cycle counts as requested by Planning.
  • Maintain accurate material-issuing and inventory transactions.

Documentation & Process Control

  • Read and interpret work instructions, routing documents, visual aids, and customer requirements.
  • Verify documentation for accuracy.
  • Initiate corrections through appropriate document-control and revision processes.
  • Assist with creating visual aids and work instructions.
  • Submit documentation through established ECN procedures for controlled implementation.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Work with the Manager and Lead to prioritize work and meet customer due dates.

Safety & Workplace Standards

  • Follow company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Properly use all required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Support additional Quality activities as directed by Quality leadership.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately complete inspection and production documentation.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience in a Quality, inspection, or testing capacity.
  • Product inspection or quality-control experience.
  • Experience using calipers, height stands, gauges, CMM, or other precision measuring equipment.
  • CMM operation and/or programming experience.
  • Visual inspection experience.
  • Manufacturing packaging experience.
  • QAD or similar ERP/MRP system experience.
  • Inventory-control and cycle-count experience.
  • PPAP and/or FAIR experience.
  • Experience documenting nonconforming material.
  • Work-order and routing-document experience.
  • 5S experience.
