Under the direction of a supervisor in the Office of Information Technology at the New Jersey Department of Education, this position will be responsible for quality assurance of enterprise systems, with a primary focus on Salesforce-based applications and data modernization initiatives. The candidate will create functional and non-functional testing requirements, test solutions, and ensure that the systems meet the desired specifications for the Department's digital transformation.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a related technical field.
Experience: 5%2B years experience in quality assurance of software systems.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Create test cases and acceptance criteria: Specifically for Salesforce Lightning components, custom objects, and automated Flows.
Executes test cases under varying circumstances: Perform functional, regression, and integration testing between Salesforce and external data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS).
Document and evaluate test results: Maintain detailed logs of test execution within Agile management tools (Jira/Azure DevOps).
Detect, log, and reports program bugs: Identify Salesforce-specific issues including validation rule failures, permission set conflicts, and integration bottlenecks.
Track defects and troubleshoot errors: Work closely with developers to replicate bugs and verify fixes in sandbox environments.
Create test procedures/training materials: Develop documentation for end-user testing and UAT (User Acceptance Testing) sessions.
Identify and implement appropriate testing strategies: Determine when to use manual vs. automated testing (e.g., Playwright) for Salesforce UI and API layers.
Collaborate with project team members: Partner with Salesforce Architects and Data Engineers on security requirements and customer-facing issues.
Agile development experience: Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure quality is integrated into the SDLC.
Salesforce Domain Expertise: Direct experience testing Salesforce CRM, including configuration, customization, and AppExchange integrations.
Data Integrity Testing: Experience validating complex data migrations and real-time data syncs between cloud platforms.
Public Sector Awareness: Ability to test applications against accessibility (Section 508) and data privacy standards relevant to educational data.
Sandbox Management: Familiarity with managing test data and deployments across Salesforce Sandbox environments.
