Position: Quality Control Technician
City: Tracy, CA
Shift: 6:00PM start including weekends
Type: Temp-to-Hire
Job Summary:
Responsible for sampling and testing raw meat, conducting inspections of food processing plant, and ensuring compliance with USDA and Company Requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Take on the responsibilities and goals of the QA department.
· Conduct inspections of product, processing equipment and facility.
· Sample product for testing purposes.
· Test samples for quality and microbiological characteristics, to include plating, reading plates, recording plate counts, and pathogen testing using PCR technology.
· Document results with complete and accurate information for all duties completed.
· Communicate with personnel from all departments including management and inspection agency personnel.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Education/Training: Degree in Food Science/ Microbiology or related field preferred.
· Licenses/Certifications: JHA (within 30 days) Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification (within 3 months).
· Experience: 1-3 years Food Microbiology or Food Processing Quality Assurance Laboratory experience preferred.
· Knowledge/Skills: Meets performance standard of current job and Manager recommendation preferred. Computer and Math skills preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise and raw meat.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Working in cold environment
