Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field of study.
Over 10 years of experience in the automotive parts manufacturing industry;
Several years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in automotive component manufacturing;
Strong knowledge of quality control and improvement techniques;
Skills in leading root cause analysis and corrective action activities; and
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
1. Quality Assurance and Control:
o Develop and implement inline quality control systems and procedures to monitor production processes and ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
o Identify critical control points in the production process and ensure appropriate inspection and testing plans are in place.
2. Process Improvement and Problem-Solving:
o Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and areas for improvement.
o Lead problem-solving initiatives using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone diagrams to resolve inline quality issues.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
o Monitor, analyze, and report inline quality performance metrics, including PPM, scrap rates, and defect trends.
o Prepare detailed reports on quality issues, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
4. Supplier and Customer Communication:
o Work closely with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards and are free from defects.
o Interface with customers to resolve quality concerns, conduct root cause analyses, and provide detailed corrective action plans.
5. Auditing and Compliance:
o Conduct internal process audits and support external customer and third-party audits.
o Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
6. Training and Leadership:
o Provide training and guidance to production and quality team members on quality inspection methods and best practices.
o Mentor junior quality engineers and technicians to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing.
7. Documentation and Standardization:
Quality Engineer – This position plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems to improve product reliability, reduce defects, and drive continuous improvement. The Quality Engineer will act as a key liaison between production, engineering, and customers to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
