This onsite role oversees inspection processes, prepares and maintains quality documentation, verifies construction workmanship, and collaborates closely with contractors and project teams. The engineer implements and manages project-specific QA/QC plans in alignment with international standards such as ASTM, ACI, ISO 9001, FAA requirements, and other project-specific quality requirements, supporting the successful delivery of a large-scale flightline expansion project.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and execute the project-specific QA/QC Plan, including clearly defined scopes of work and work procedures.
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures, including document control, submissions management, and creation and tracking of Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Manage material samples and documentation, and track potential cost changes and approved change orders within budgetary guidelines.
  • Implement the project-specific QA/QC Plan in coordination with the project safety plan to support safe and compliant construction activities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times throughout project execution.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to support delivery of a fully compliant project.
  • Understand the project execution plan and coordinate Quality Control procedures at appropriate stages of the work in line with the project schedule.
  • Continually improve strategies, tools, and processes to efficiently and effectively document, track, and record compliance with contract documents.
  • Execute the QA/QC Plan in a way that actively engages all project staff, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants in quality objectives.
  • Conduct testing and inspections on civil and concrete works and arrange for third-party testing and inspections when required.
  • Analyze and report testing and inspection results, providing clear documentation and recommendations.
  • Expand and refine the QA/QC Plan as the project progresses, continually improving procedures and program effectiveness.
  • Oversee the development and accuracy of Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) to ensure thorough documentation of site activities and quality performance.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and closure of punch lists to ensure all deficiencies are identified, tracked, and resolved.
  • Direct the removal and replacement of all non-compliant materials and workmanship, ensuring corrective actions are properly implemented.
  • Document compliance after corrective work is completed and verify that all quality requirements are met prior to starting any subsequent work.
  • Research, recommend, and apply additional Quality Control and Lean procedures to enhance the quality and efficiency of project delivery.
  • Oversee project close-out activities and prepare or review final quality reports and documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall project quality and successful completion.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of QA/QC construction quality experience, preferably with a general contractor.
  • At least 3 years of concrete flightline construction experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with FAA standards for airfield and flightline projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ACI 304 and ACI 501 standards for concrete construction and repair.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing project-specific QA/QC Plans on construction projects.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing document control processes, including submittals, RFIs, and change documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee testing and inspection activities, including third-party testing.
  • Strong skills in analyzing test and inspection results and producing clear, accurate reports.
  • Proven ability to identify non-compliant work, direct corrective actions, and verify completed remediation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple quality-related tasks and documentation in line with project schedules.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct and strict compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Additional Quality Control certifications relevant to construction or civil engineering.
  • Familiarity with international quality standards such as ISO 9001 and ASTM standards.
  • Experience integrating QA/QC plans with project safety plans.
  • Exposure to Lean construction or continuous improvement methodologies in a construction environment.
  • Experience supporting large-scale or complex infrastructure projects, such as a major flightline or airfield expansion.
  • Ability to develop and oversee Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) and punch lists.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving quality procedures and project outcomes.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role in a construction environment, supporting a large-scale flightline expansion project. The position involves frequent presence on active construction sites, interaction with field crews, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors, and regular coordination with project teams in both site and office settings. The work environment includes exposure to typical construction site conditions such as outdoor weather, noise, and heavy equipment operations, and requires adherence to all site safety protocols and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
