    Role Overview

    The Supplier Quality Engineer - Electrical applies quality assurance and quality control principles to ensure Mitsubishi Power electrical equipment, products, and services meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This role leads supplier factory acceptance testing, inspections, qualification audits, and corrective action activities for electrical equipment used in power generation applications. The position works closely with Engineering, Global Sourcing, Quality, suppliers, and site personnel to monitor product conformance, strengthen supplier performance, and support safe, reliable project execution.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop project quality inspection budgets and monitor adherence.
    • Lead cross-functional qualification audits of new and existing suppliers.
    • Conduct supplier factory acceptance tests and in-process and final inspections of electrical equipment, materials, components, and assemblies before shipment.
    • Inspect low-voltage AC and DC equipment, motor control centers, distribution equipment, transformers, motors, battery chargers, rectifiers, battery systems, starters, cables, and related electrical materials.
    • Write and manage Non-Conformance Reports and Quality Notifications from initial issuance through corrective action and effectiveness verification.
    • Determine appropriate root cause analysis methods and develop, recommend, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Review procurement technical specifications to identify and incorporate quality requirements.
    • Develop quality specifications for electrical equipment and systems in coordination with Mitsubishi Power Engineering.
    • Review supplier procedures for compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
    • Coordinate with Global Sourcing to monitor Mitsubishi Power procurements and verify that quality criteria are satisfied.
    • Prepare, review, analyze, and distribute inspection reports.
    • Review customer and supplier inspection and test plans to confirm appropriate witness and hold points and testing requirements.
    • Obtain supplier Quality Records Packages, review them for adequacy, and enter them into the Mitsubishi Power Quality Document Control System.
    • Interpret outline drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, three-line diagrams, and termination tables for inspection and troubleshooting purposes.
    • Assess electrical installation practices involving grounding systems, raceways, lighting, receptacles, HVAC systems, fire detection systems, and related devices.
    • Review technical documentation associated with RFQs, purchase orders, drawings, and supplier submittals.
    • Comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and report unsafe activities.
    • Protect confidential information and maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
    • Travel domestically and internationally up to 70% to support supplier audits, inspections, and factory acceptance testing.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a power concentration, from an accredited college or university.
    • Ten (10) or more years of related electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, or inspection experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Professional Engineer licensure or demonstrated progress toward applicable professional certification preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of power generation electrical equipment, products, services, quality systems, and inspection methods.
    • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, ANSI/IEEE standards, CSA standards, and IEC standards.
    • Experience with low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, AC distribution transformers and panels, motors, battery chargers, rectifiers, battery systems, DC starters, and related electrical equipment.
    • Working knowledge of medium-voltage starters preferred.
    • Ability to understand AC and DC circuits and independently troubleshoot electrical systems.
    • Ability to interpret technical specifications and recommend improvements related to electrical and safety requirements.
    • Ability to use standard inspection equipment and understand electrical installation requirements.
    • Strong analytical, mathematical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, suppliers, customers, and third-party inspectors.
    • English fluency required; Spanish and/or Japanese language skills are a plus.
    • Knowledge of databases, project management software, spreadsheets, word processing software, technical diagrams, and flow charts.
    • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
