Location: South Bay, FloridaPosition SummaryThe Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities and deliverables meet or exceed project specifications, contract requirements, and industry standards. This role involves developing and implementing quality control plans, conducting inspections and tests, and collaborating with project teams to resolve quality issues.Forgen OverviewForgen is a leading geotechnical and specialty civil construction company operating across North America. We are dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for complex civil, geotechnical, and environmental challenges, guided by our core values of integrity, passion, teamwork, and smart work.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCPs) in compliance with contract documents and company standards.Perform and document inspections, tests, and audits of construction activities, materials, and workmanship to verify compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to address and resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.Track, report, and monitor non-conformance items and corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.Maintain organized and accurate quality records, including inspection reports, testing data, and certifications.Provide training and guidance to project teams on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.Support safety and environmental compliance initiatives, ensuring that quality control processes align with Forgen's Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture.Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and closeout reviews to represent the quality control function.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience in quality control, construction, or engineering disciplines will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.Minimum of 2+ years of experience in quality control for heavy civil, geotechnical, or environmental construction projects.Solid understanding of construction methods, specifications, and applicable industry standards (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO, ACI).Strong attention to detail with effective organizational and documentation skills.Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction management software is a plus.Willingness and ability to travel and work on active project sites as required.Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.Preferred QualificationsThe following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. Company will provide additional training, as necessary. 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training8-Hour OSHA Refresher.Competent Person Safety Training.30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training.EM 385-1-1 TrainingPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentThis role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing or walking on project sites, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Work conditions and demands may vary, with possible exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots, is required.
