Job Description Summary

The Mid–Senior Level Quality Control Inspector is responsible for executing and owning advanced quality inspection activities across incoming, in-process, and finished goods. This role goes beyond standard inspection by providing technical expertise, supporting root cause analysis, and ensuring consistent adherence to quality standards and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality of outgoing goods, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and acting as a subject matter expert within the Quality team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet specifications and quality standards
  • Approve or reject materials and finished goods based on inspection results and defined criteria
  • Monitor production processes and communicate required adjustments to maintain quality standards
  • Document all inspection results accurately within the Quality Management System and support reporting and trend analysis
  • Identify, document, and support resolution of non-conforming materials, including participation in root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Support recall, re-work, and containment activities to ensure product compliance and customer satisfaction
  • Inspect recalled or re-worked items to confirm specifications and approve eligibility for resale
  • Ensure proper handling, calibration awareness, and use of inspection tools and measurement equipment
  • Utilize advanced measurement techniques, including CMM (Keyence / Mitutoyo) and precision tools, to perform dimensional inspections
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate inspection and validation
  • Support and reinforce ISO 9001:2015 standards by following procedures and contributing to audit readiness and compliance efforts
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, and Operations to communicate quality issues and drive timely resolution
  • Deliver on quality KPIs, including inspection turnaround time, accuracy, and overall quality performance
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors and support onboarding and training efforts
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and recommending enhancements
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following company procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain job knowledge through ongoing training and educational opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Required

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 4–7+ years of experience in Quality Control or Inspection in a manufacturing or technical environment
    • Strong experience performing visual and dimensional inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
    • Working knowledge of GD&T principles
    • Experience working within ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management systems
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound quality decisions independently
    • Effective communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback
    • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple inspection tasks
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and support problem-solving efforts
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high accuracy

    Preferred

    • Experience with Keyence Profilers and/or Mitutoyo CMM / vision systems
    • Experience supporting audits, corrective actions (CAR), and non-conformance processes
    • Familiarity with ERP or Quality Management Systems (e.g., NetSuite, QT9)
    • Associate's degree in a technical or engineering-related field
    • Experience mentoring or training junior inspectors

  • Physical Activities include ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including in productive environments. Ability to work in tight or confined spaces as needed. Regular use of hand for find motor skills and inspections tasks. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Visual acuity including close, distance, color and depth perception. Ability to work on a computer for extended periods that may emulate blue light.
