General Job Description:

Job Title:  Quality Control Inspector

Department: Quality

Location:  Canton, OH (On-Site)

Role Type:  Full-Time, Hourly

Reports To:Quality Manager

Direction From:Quality Manager

 

Job Description:

The Quality Control Inspector must have a high attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality standards. This role may support one or more departments (Fabrication, Assembly, Painting, and Electrical) and must be fluent in Engineering drawings, SOPs, Work Instructions, and the required measuring and testing equipment for the area.

Specific Qualifications:

Key Inspection Responsibilities include:

  • Mechanical Inspection: Perform dimensional inspections, weld inspections, fit-up checks, structural verification, and torque verification using tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, calibrated torque wrenches, and other precision instruments to ensure fabricated and assembled components meet drawing specifications and tolerances.
  • Paint Inspection: Conduct visual and measurable paint/coating inspections including dry film thickness (DFT) testing, adhesion testing, surface preparation verification, and identification of defects such as runs, sags, holidays, or incomplete coverage.
  • Electrical Inspection: Perform electrical inspections including continuity testing, insulation resistance (Megger) testing, point-to-point wiring verification, component installation checks, and functional testing of electrical assemblies, breakers, and control systems per applicable drawings and standards.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook) for documenting inspection results, creating reports, logging non-conformances, and communicating with production and engineering teams.

Inspectors are responsible for verifying that the product conforms to all requirements defined in the Engineering drawings, SOPs, and Work Instructions. When non-conformances are identified, Inspectors must document them appropriately (using NCMRs or other company systems), communicate findings clearly to production teams, and subsequently verify that corrective actions have been completed and validated before product release.
