Job Title: Quality Control InspectorJob Description

The Quality Control Inspector ensures that incoming raw materials, outsourced products, and finished goods consistently meet established quality requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role performs incoming inspections, in-process audits, and finished product inspections, carefully documents findings, and collaborates with production, shipping, purchasing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality concerns and support continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect incoming raw materials and outsourced products to verify they meet specified quality standards.
  • Perform line clearance inspections before production runs to confirm proper line setup and readiness.
  • Verify line cleanliness and ensure correct packaging materials are in place prior to and during production.
  • Conduct finished product inspections, including checks of fill weights, seals, color, odor, torque, lot codes, and overall appearance.
  • Document and communicate quality issues, deviations, and nonconformances clearly and promptly to relevant teams.
  • Review batch records and production documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with quality procedures.
  • Archive quality reports and records in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Train production personnel and operators on quality procedures, inspection criteria, and documentation practices.
  • Support investigations into production quality issues and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform first-run inspections for new products to validate quality standards and support successful product launches.
  • Collaborate closely with production, shipping, purchasing, and supply chain teams to address quality concerns and improve processes.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and use basic math skills during inspections, measurements, and data recording.
  • Use basic computer skills to enter, track, and update quality data and inspection results.
Essential Skills
  • 1–3 years of experience performing quality inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience as a quality inspector or quality technician in manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting raw materials and finished products.
  • Experience documenting quality findings, deviations, and inspection results.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and quality procedures.
  • Experience reviewing batch records and production documentation.
  • Ability to communicate quality issues effectively with production and supply chain teams.
  • Comfortable training operators and production personnel on quality procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and good math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable standing for the entire shift in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in consumer goods, chemical, household products, or packaging manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills (preferred but not required).
  • Interest in working in a stable manufacturing environment with growth potential.
  • Motivation to gain exposure to quality systems, production processes, and cross-functional operations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production, quality, shipping, purchasing, and supply chain teams.
Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility with a fast-paced production environment where you will primarily stand throughout the shift. You will interact regularly with production, quality, shipping, purchasing, and supply chain teams as part of a collaborative, cross-functional operation. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required according to facility guidelines. The position follows a 2nd shift schedule, with initial training conducted on 1st shift. First shift training hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. for the first few months. After training, the regular 2nd shift hours are Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. The environment offers exposure to established consumer brands, direct interaction with production and quality leadership, and opportunities for professional growth within a stable manufacturing operation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gurnee, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
