A leading design and fabrication company is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform dimensional and visual inspections of in-process work, finished products, and incoming materials to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented quality professional with dimensional inspection experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment. Working under minimal supervision, this role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, identifying non-conformances, and supporting continuous improvement across production operations.

Salary: $23/hr–$25/hr – DOE, plus $3.00/hr shift differential
Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Hours: Evening shift 2:00 pm–10:00 pm

Responsibilities:
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of in-process work and finished products to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes
  • Inspect incoming materials, including structural steel shapes, pipe, and plate, for proper identification such as material specifications, grade, heat number, and size
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand product requirements
  • Complete inspection reports, quality records, and related documentation accurately
  • Work within the established Quality Management System and support ISO 9001 compliance
  • Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials or products
  • Conduct root cause investigations and support troubleshooting efforts related to quality concerns
  • Provide training, mentoring, and guidance to Level I inspectors and other production personnel as needed
  • Help resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner to support production and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Report safety-related issues to leadership as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–6 years of experience in a quality control role within a manufacturing or production environment required
  • Dimensional inspection experience required
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
  • Proficiency with hand measuring tools such as calipers, measuring tapes, and micrometers
  • Familiarity with weld inspection tools
  • Experience working in ISO or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus
  • Experience with electrical or electromechanical assemblies is a plus
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Basic math skills required
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands regularly throughout the workday
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a Jaeger 2 vision exam with or without corrective lenses
