Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring structural steel fabrication and welding activities meet company quality standards, project specifications, AWS requirements, and Quality Management System (QMS) procedures throughout the manufacturing process.
This role performs in-process and final inspections on structural steel components, verifies weld quality and dimensional accuracy, and supports production teams in maintaining compliance across fabrication, welding, material traceability, and finishing operations. The position works closely with production, welding, engineering, and quality leadership to support continuous improvement, reduce rework, and ensure products meet customer and industry requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment utilizing robotics and automation.
Responsibilities:
Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of quality control inspection experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, or heavy manufacturing environments. Experience with AISC, AWS, or CWB certifications is a plus.
Education: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months
NDT certification or experience with NDT methods
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in welding, fabrication, or quality inspection preferred
Experience performing visual weld inspections and dimensional inspections in a fabrication environment required
Familiarity with AWS welding standards, AISC fabrication requirements, and structural steel quality practices a plus
Experience supporting robotic welding systems or automated fabrication equipment preferred
Working knowledge of material traceability, weld documentation, and QMS procedures
