Quality Control Inspector

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to conduct site inspections, verify construction compliance, and ensure high quality standards across commercial and institutional projects. In this role, you will perform field inspections, verify alignment with architectural drawings and building codes, and track field documentation through non-conformance reporting and punch lists. This position is ideal for a proactive professional with strong blueprint reading skills and practical experience in field testing and trade inspections.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction sites, building systems, and trade work (HVAC, electrical, structural, plumbing) to verify adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
• Read and interpret complex architectural drawings, structural blueprints, mechanical schematics, and submittals.
• Utilize field testing equipment, laser/precision measuring instruments, thermal imaging, and materials testing procedures during inspections.
• Document punch lists, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and daily field reports using construction management software.
• Ensure site compliance with local (New Haven/Connecticut) building codes, ADA requirements, fire codes, and environmental health & safety (EHS) rules.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate’s degree in Construction Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, Building Inspection, Quality Management, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Entry to Mid Level: 2 to 4 years of hands-on field experience in construction, building inspection, or trade work for entry to mid-level candidates 
• Senior/Specialist Level: 4 to 6+ years of direct quality control, site auditing, or building code enforcement experience on commercial or institutional sites for senior/specialist candidates.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings, structural blueprints, mechanical schematics, and submittals.
• Familiarity with field testing equipment, laser/precision measuring instruments, thermal imaging, or materials testing procedures.
• Experience documenting punch lists, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and daily field reports using construction management software.
• Knowledge of local (New Haven/Connecticut) building codes, ADA requirements, fire codes, and environmental health & safety (EHS) rules.
• Preferred certifications include International Code Council (ICC) certifications (e.g., Special Inspector, Commercial Building Inspector), ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQMC), and OSHA 30-Hour.
• Experience working in medical office, medical research/laboratory, hospital, and university settings.

The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. 

The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.

Your Work Environment: You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels. Clark offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, retirement/401k, and Company Contribution plan. For this role the base salary range is $70,500 - $140,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
