    Position Summary

    The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that modular building components and completed modules meet company quality standards, customer specifications, engineering requirements, and applicable building codes and regulations. This position performs inspections throughout the manufacturing process, identifies non-conformances, documents findings, and works closely with production teams to promote quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct in-process and final inspections of modular building components, assemblies, and completed modules.
    • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
    • Inspect structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural components as required.
    • Perform dimensional measurements using appropriate inspection tools and equipment.
    • Identify, document, and report defects, non-conformances, and quality concerns.
    • Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.
    • Verify completion of corrective actions and re-inspect repaired work as necessary.
    • Monitor production activities to ensure adherence to quality procedures and industry standards.
    • Assist in root cause analysis investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Support customer, third-party, and regulatory inspections and audits.
    • Verify incoming materials and components meet specified quality requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
    • Maintain inspection tools and equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
    • Collaborate with production, engineering, project management, and site teams to resolve quality issues.
    • Stop or escalate production activities when quality standards are not being met.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in quality control, manufacturing, construction, inspection, or a related field preferred.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
    • Knowledge of quality control principles, inspection methods, and testing procedures.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in modular construction, prefabricated manufacturing, residential or commercial construction.
    • Familiarity with applicable local, state, and national building codes.
    • Experience using measuring and testing equipment such as tape measures, calipers, levels, and moisture meters.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to identify workmanship and material defects.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple inspections and deadlines.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and documentation practices.
    • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism when addressing quality concerns with production personnel.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Ability to access elevated platforms, ladders, and confined work areas safely.
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
    • Adequate vision, including close vision and color recognition, to perform inspections.

    Performance Expectations

    • Maintain accurate and timely inspection records.
    • Identify and report quality issues promptly.
    • Support reduction of rework, scrap, and warranty claims.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable company quality standards and procedures.
    • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.
