Quality Control Lab Technician (2nd shift)

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | Mon-Fri 2: 30pm-10: 30pm (candidate will likely train on 1st shift for the first few weeks - shift diff will not apply during this time frame)

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Lab Technician to support quality testing of production batches, finished products, stability samples, and validation samples within an FDA/GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

This position performs both routine laboratory testing and instrumental analysis to ensure products meet established specifications before release. The ideal candidate has a strong chemistry background, hands-on laboratory experience, and familiarity with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and TOC.
Key Responsibilities

  • Test production batches according to formulas, specifications, and established SOPs.

  • Determine and communicate required batch adjustments and accurately document results.

  • Test finished products, stability samples, and validation samples using approved methods.

  • Perform instrumental analysis using HPLC, GC, and TOC equipment as needed.

  • Complete documentation required for batch approval and product release.

  • Review and evaluate laboratory data for trends or potential quality concerns.

  • Develop and update SOPs and microbiological testing methods.

  • Test and approve tankers for loading and unloading.

  • Investigate customer complaints and test returned products as required.

  • Retest returned goods and provide results supporting release or rejection decisions.

  • Maintain retained samples and properly store laboratory samples.

  • Support environmental monitoring by collecting and testing samples for chemical and microbiological evaluation.

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and appropriate inventory of testing materials.

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory forms, charts, logs, graphs, and other quality records.

  • Support compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

  • Communicate testing requirements, results, and outstanding issues between shifts.

  • Participate in special analytical projects, validations, and other quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment, including:

    • pH meters

    • Viscometers

    • Thermometers

    • Pipettes

    • Burettes

    • Other standard laboratory glassware and equipment

  • Understanding of laboratory sampling and testing procedures.

  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements and practices.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned testing.
Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience with HPLC, GC, and/or TOC instrumentation.

  • Previous Quality Control laboratory experience in an FDA-regulated, GMP, chemical, pharmaceutical, personal care, or related manufacturing environment.

  • Experience testing raw materials, production batches, or finished products.

  • Exposure to environmental monitoring or microbiological testing.

  • Knowledge of chemical raw materials.

  • Experience with stability testing, method validation, or analytical projects.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for approximately 80% of the workday.

  • Ability to climb ladders on a daily basis.

  • Ability to bend and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and interruptions in an active laboratory and production environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidate will combine a chemistry or laboratory background with hands-on QC testing experience. They should be comfortable working directly with production, following tightly controlled SOPs, documenting results accurately, and making timely quality decisions.

Experience with HPLC, GC, or TOC will be particularly valuable, along with familiarity with FDA/cGMP manufacturing requirements. This role requires someone who is analytical, organized, detail-focused, and comfortable working independently while supporting a fast-moving production operation.
