Quality Control Lab Technician – 2nd Shift

Pay Rate: $21.00–$21.42/hr, paid weekly
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM 
Assignment: Contract: through the end of December 2026, potential for extension

Overview

The Quality Control Lab Technician supports analytical testing within a fast-paced QC laboratory at ADM’s Decatur facility.

This entry-level position provides structured training on one of four specialized analytical testing areas. Technicians prepare in-process and finished-product samples, perform laboratory testing using wet chemistry methods and instrumentation, and accurately document test results in computerized systems.

New hires complete a 60–90 day certification program under the guidance of senior technicians and laboratory supervision, with the opportunity to qualify for advancement to Lab Technician I.

Responsibilities

• Prepare in-process and finished-product samples for laboratory analysis.

• Perform routine analytical testing using wet chemistry techniques and laboratory instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, and IC equipment.

• Accurately enter and maintain analytical testing results in computerized data management systems.

• Train on and become proficient in one of four specialized QC laboratory testing areas.

• Follow established laboratory procedures, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.

• Maintain compliance with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and plant safety requirements.

• Complete required laboratory and plant safety training.

• Participate in monthly laboratory safety audits and safety engagement activities.

• Identify and promptly report safety hazards, unsafe equipment, and near-miss incidents.

• Maintain an organized work area while managing multiple testing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• College-level science coursework with a laboratory component strongly preferred.

• Previous laboratory, science, manufacturing, production, or other fast-paced work experience preferred.

• Strong basic math skills and ability to perform analytical testing calculations.

• Basic computer skills for entering and documenting testing results.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

• Reliable availability to work the Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM shift.

• Ability to work within the operational requirements of a 24/7/365 production facility.
