Senior QC Laboratory Chemist – Role Overview

Position Summary

Seeking a senior-level Quality Control Chemist to perform analytical testing in a GMP-regulated environment supporting human and veterinary drug manufacturing. This role ensures product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Core Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a GMP/regulated pharmaceutical lab
  • Strong chromatography expertise (HPLC, GC required)
  • Experience must be industry-based (academic-only not considered)
  • Degree preferred, but not required (relevant experience prioritized)
  • Must be based in the United States

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing on raw materials, in-process, finished, and stability samples
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, UV/VIS, FTIR)
  • Prepare reagents and samples in accordance with SOPs
  • Accurately document and report results per GMP and regulatory standards
  • Support method development, validation, and transfer activities
  • Troubleshoot and investigate testing or equipment issues
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and mentor junior team members

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Proficient in HPLC, GC, UV/VIS, FTIR, AA, IC, ICP-MS, and dissolution testing
  • Familiar with Empower, Microsoft Office, and laboratory systems
  • Strong understanding of cGMP and quality systems (deviations, CAPAs, change control)
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and multitasking skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Fast-paced, regulated laboratory setting
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
  • Capable of standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods (8+ hours)
