Job Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician / Microbiologist Technician
Job Description
This role supports the Sample Collection Division as a Quality Control Laboratory Technician with a focus on microbiology. You will perform microbiological testing on raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to pharmaceutical, nutritional, and animal health projects while working closely with a collaborative laboratory and quality team.
Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, and environmental monitoring samples using established laboratory methods and aseptic techniques.
- Ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support investigations into microbial deviations by participating in root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, calibrate, validate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records, including laboratory notebooks, data archives, retention samples, and change control documentation.
- Compile, review, and analyze laboratory data to support quality trending programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with internal and external quality audits, document control activities, and other Quality Assurance responsibilities.
- Support stability studies and product testing, including preparation of media, samples, and documentation as required.
- Conduct inspection and analysis of samples in accordance with ISO standards, ISO procedures, and GMP guidelines.
- Order and manage laboratory supplies to ensure adequate inventory and support uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment, including proper handling and disposal of media, reagents, and samples.
- Follow all safety procedures, laboratory protocols, and company policies to promote a safe and compliant work environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support laboratory, biology, and environmental monitoring activities and contribute to overall quality system improvements.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of microbiology, laboratory, or quality control experience, preferably in a laboratory setting.
- Bachelor"s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Hands-on experience with microbiology testing and laboratory techniques, including aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, and microbial testing.
- Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance principles, including GLP, cGMP, SOP compliance, and audit support.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills, including maintaining laboratory notebooks, investigations, change control, and data management.
- Experience with root cause investigation and troubleshooting for deviations, equipment issues, and method-related problems.
- Ability to monitor, calibrate, qualify, validate, and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Working knowledge of quality systems, ISO standards, ISO procedures, and GMP requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing, documentation, and data analysis.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated investigative and problem-solving abilities in a regulated or structured laboratory environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a regulated laboratory environment, including GLP and cGMP settings, is a plus.
- Background in microbiology laboratories, including handling media, environmental monitoring, and microbial analysis.
- Familiarity with quality assurance activities such as audits, document control, and quality trending programs.
- Exposure to stability studies, product testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience working with raw materials inspection, analysis, and adherence to ISO standards and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced laboratory environment while maintaining high quality standards.
- Comfort working on projects related to pharmaceuticals, nutritional products, veterinary instruments, diagnostics, and agricultural chemicals.
- Interest in animal health, including products that support livestock, companion animals, and racehorses.

The role is based in a laboratory environment within a global animal safety and health-focused facility. The site manufactures and distributes veterinary instruments, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, disinfectants, and agricultural chemicals that protect the health of livestock, companion animals, and racehorses. The laboratory operates under GLP, cGMP, ISO standards, and established SOPs, with a strong emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and organization. You will work with microbiology laboratories, environmental monitoring systems, aseptic techniques, and a variety of analytical equipment that requires regular calibration, qualification, and validation. Pay and Benefits
