The Quality Control Manager ensures that all construction activities meet contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements while coordinating closely with project leadership, field teams, and stakeholders to deliver a high-quality, compliant, and well-documented project.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage the entire project quality control (QC) program for a large-scale renovation and vertical construction project.
  • Oversee quality control activities during demolition, restructuring, and new construction phases to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Attend all post-award conferences, Contractor Quality Control (CQC) plan meetings, coordination meetings, and mutual understanding meetings to represent and lead QC efforts.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct regular CQC meetings with project teams and subcontractors to review quality requirements, address issues, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform and document the three phases of the quality control process (preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections) for all definable features of work.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve submittals to ensure they comply with contract documents, specifications, and applicable codes before work proceeds.
  • Ensure all required testing is properly scheduled, performed, documented, and tracked, including coordinating with testing agencies and laboratories as needed.
  • Monitor field work to verify adherence to approved submittals, drawings, specifications, and quality standards, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Interpret and review blueprints, drawings, and technical documents to identify quality requirements and potential issues before and during construction.
  • Prepare, maintain, and organize QC documentation, including inspection reports, test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective action records.
  • Coordinate with project management, superintendents, and inspectors to resolve quality-related issues and maintain alignment with project objectives.
  • Support compliance with OSHA and other safety requirements by integrating safety considerations into QC processes and field inspections.
  • Collaborate on local, state, and federal project requirements to ensure that all regulatory and contractual quality standards are met.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to inspectors and field personnel on quality expectations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of ownership and accountability by promoting high standards of workmanship and proactive problem solving across the project team.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in vertical construction quality control, including work on demolition, restructuring, and new construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage a comprehensive QC program on large construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Contractor Quality Control (CQC) processes, including planning and conducting CQC meetings.
  • Ability to perform the three phases of quality control (preparatory, initial, and follow-up) and document each phase thoroughly.
  • Strong skills in reviewing and approving submittals for compliance with contract documents and specifications.
  • Experience ensuring that all required testing is scheduled, performed, and documented in accordance with project requirements.
  • Knowledge of OSHA compliance requirements and the ability to support safe work practices through QC activities.
  • Familiarity with USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) quality control standards and procedures.
  • Experience working as an inspector or quality control manager on local, state, or federal construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents and to identify and communicate quality-related issues.
  • Certified Quality Control Manager (QCM) or equivalent QC certification.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills to manage QC records, reports, and testing documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and field personnel.
  • Ability to maintain consistency and longevity in vertical construction roles, demonstrating stable and reliable project involvement.

  • Experience as an inspector with a track record of long-term involvement in vertical construction projects.
  • Experience in construction quality control on local, state, or federal projects, particularly those involving complex renovations and new vertical construction.
  • Exposure to or familiarity with ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) environments or ownership-minded cultures.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues before they impact schedule or cost.
  • Ability to mentor and support field teams in understanding and meeting quality expectations.
