Job Title: Quality Control & Safety Manager

Job Description

The Quality Control & Safety Manager oversees the quality and safety of industrial hoses and fittings received from vendors, ensuring they meet internal standards and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements. This role manages and works alongside a Quality Technician to perform inspections, leads the culture of quality and safety across the facility, and ensures warehouse operations follow established safety practices. The position offers hands-on involvement on the distribution floor and the opportunity to grow into an engineering or mid-management role with broader quality responsibilities across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform quality inspections of industrial hoses and fittings received from vendors to ensure they meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and work side-by-side with the Quality Technician to plan, execute, and document inspection activities.
  • Develop, promote, and lead a strong culture of quality and safety for all employees within the distribution facility.
  • Monitor and enforce warehouse safety practices, ensuring daily operations align with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain smaller-scale safety and compliance reports, including incident reports and related investigations, while coordinating with the parent company on annual safety and OSHA reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements such as REACH, RoHS, CMRT, PFAS, Prop 65, TSCA, and USMCA by maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Complete and submit compliance forms and documentation for clients, including state regulatory forms and other required quality and safety documentation.
  • Support and participate in safety committees and initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement in environmental health and safety (EHS).
  • Implement and support quality assurance and quality control processes, including corrective and preventive action (CAPA) and return material authorization (RMA) procedures.
  • Investigate quality and safety issues, identify root causes, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide or support safety training for employees, leveraging resources such as safety videos and guidance from the parent organization.
  • Collaborate with leadership and peers to adapt to the existing culture, understand current processes, and then recommend improvements in a thoughtful, humble manner.
  • Contribute to long-term quality strategy with potential expansion into managing quality operations for additional facilities in other locations.

Essential Skills

  • 2-3+ years of experience in quality control or quality assurance at a technician level.
  • Hands-on experience with quality control of industrial products, including inspection and documentation.
  • Experience with safety practices in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Background in compliance with state regulations and completion of compliance forms for clients.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and safety reporting processes.
  • Experience participating in or serving on a safety committee.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks such as REACH, RoHS, CMRT, PFAS, Prop 65, TSCA, and USMCA.
  • Experience with EHS (environmental health and safety) practices.
  • Experience with quality assurance and QC processes, including CAPA (corrective and preventive action) and RMA procedures.
  • Ability to conduct incident reporting and investigations and document findings clearly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on the distribution floor with technicians and operations staff.
  • Demonstrated humility and willingness to understand existing processes and culture before driving change.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • ASQ certification is preferred and demonstrates a strong foundation in quality principles.
  • Experience with ASQ methodologies or related quality certifications.
  • Exposure to or interest in career growth toward an engineering or mid-management role.
  • Interest in expanding responsibilities to manage quality for multiple facilities in different locations.
  • Comfort working in a private equity-owned environment with support from a parent organization on high-level safety programs.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey quality and safety expectations to employees at all levels.

Work Environment

This role is based in a distribution facility with a hands-on, floor-focused work style. The Quality Control & Safety Manager spends a significant amount of time on the warehouse floor working side-by-side with the Quality Technician and operational staff.
