Job Title: Quality Control & Safety Manager

Job Description

The Quality Control & Safety Manager oversees the quality and safety of industrial hoses and fittings in a distribution-focused facility. This is a hands-on, technician-level role, not an engineering position, that ensures incoming products meet internal standards and comply with regulatory requirements. The role builds and leads a strong culture of quality and warehouse safety, working closely with quality technicians and floor staff. This position offers growth potential into engineering or mid-management and the opportunity to expand responsibility across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the quality of industrial hoses and fittings received from vendors to ensure they meet company standards and specifications.
  • Verify that all incoming products comply with relevant regulatory and legal requirements, including REACH, RoHS, CMRT, PFAS, Prop 65, TSCA, and USMCA.
  • Work side-by-side with quality technicians on the distribution floor to inspect, test, and document product quality.
  • Manage and support the daily activities of the quality function within the facility, ensuring consistent and accurate quality control processes.
  • Create, promote, and lead a culture of quality and safety for all employees across the distribution facility.
  • Focus on warehouse safety practices, including safe material handling, equipment use, and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain smaller safety reports, incident reports, and investigation documentation in alignment with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct or coordinate incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with the parent organization, which manages annual safety and OSHA reports, to ensure alignment with broader safety programs and standards.
  • Support and deliver safety training to employees, reinforcing safe work practices and compliance with safety policies.
  • Participate in or lead safety committee activities, driving continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) performance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans (CAPA) and return material authorization (RMA) processes to address quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate quality assurance and quality control documentation, including inspection records and compliance certifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality and safety processes, first taking time to understand existing practices and culture before proposing changes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application of quality and safety standards across operations.
  • Support potential expansion of quality management responsibilities to additional facilities as the role grows.

Essential Skills

  • 2-3+ years of experience in quality control or quality assurance at a technician level.
  • Hands-on experience with quality control processes in a distribution, warehouse, or similar environment.
  • Experience participating in a safety committee or similar safety-focused group.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and OSHA-related safety principles.
  • Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) concepts and programs.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, including REACH, RoHS, CMRT, PFAS, Prop 65, TSCA, and USMCA.
  • Experience with quality assurance and quality control activities such as inspections, testing, and documentation.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and track corrective action plans (CAPA) and manage return material authorization (RMA) processes.
  • Strong skills in safety training, incident reporting, and incident investigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and support a culture of quality and safety.
  • Capacity to work in a hands-on role on the distribution floor alongside technicians and labor staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with humility and the ability to adapt to an existing culture before suggesting improvements.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for reporting, documentation, and training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • ASQ certification or ASQ-certified status preferred.
  • Experience with ASQ standards, practices, or methodologies.
  • Exposure to EHS programs and warehouse-focused safety initiatives.
  • Interest in professional growth into an engineering or mid-management role.
  • Ability to expand responsibility to oversee quality for multiple facilities as the organization grows.

Work Environment

The role is based in a distribution facility that operates more like a warehouse than a production factory. The position is highly hands-on, with the Quality Control & Safety Manager spending significant time on the floor working side-by-side with a quality technician and other floor personnel. The environment involves handling industrial hoses and fittings, performing inspections, and engaging directly with warehouse operations. Safety expectations focus on warehouse practices, such as proper material handling and equipment use. The broader organization provides support through annual safety reporting and safety video training, while the on-site team manages day-to-day safety and quality activities. The culture is that of a small, tight-knit company with long employee tenure, emphasizing humility, collaboration, and thoughtful, well-understood improvements. The role offers opportunities for growth into expanded quality responsibilities across additional facilities and into engineering or mid-management paths.
