The Quality Control Supervisor ensures compliance with quality requirements by providing training to personnel and auditing plants and production yards in the utility pole, piling and lumber division. Shall provide oversite to ensure multiple facilities are producing materials in conformance with industry, company and customer-specific quality standards for untreated and treated material, preservatives, and treating specifications. Shall provide interdepartmental support and shall interact with customers on a limited basis. These requirements will be achieved by performing the following duties:
Principal Responsibilities:
- Ensure corporate quality policies are adhered to at production facilities
- Routine travel to provide onsite support at treating facilities, production yards and distribution yards. Travel schedule shall be 60% or greater.
- Provide training as it relates to defect awareness, product quality and procedures.
- Provide training as it relates to laboratory procedures and methods.
- Perform facility auditing for conformance with corporate requirements.
- Production of audit reports and maintenance of quality databases.
- Assist production departments in driving product quality.
- Evaluate proficiency and knowledge of defect interpretations and quality concepts at production facilities.
- Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions for unforeseen quality issues.
- Assist with the implementation of process improvements.
- Special project management
- Assist in assay work and disposition of aged pole inventory at distribution yards.
- Review laboratory operations and procedures at the facility level.
- Ensure all preservative concentrations in work solutions are monitored on a regular basis to determine they are within specified company and industry standards.
- Ensure laboratory calibrations are up to date and are within company and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all training, audits, field and laboratory analysis, correspondence, specifications, research, or other documents.
- Assure a high degree of communication with regard to progress and conformance are maintained. Work closely with independent, government, company inspectors and corporate management.
- Work closely with plant managers in providing information to optimize quality control objectives.
- Complete necessary daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to leadership regarding training, auditing and compliance results.
