    Job Title: Quality Control Technician

    Department: Production Indirect

    FLSA: Non-Exempt

    General Function

    The Quality Control Technician’s responsibilities include: Working closely with production employees, supervisors and regulatory staff to ensure Quality and Food Safe items for D&D‘s customers.

    Reporting Relations

    Accountable and Reports to:  Quality Control Managers and Compliance Manager

    Positions that Report to you: None

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintaining and ensuring food safety. Report any food safety deviations to your supervisor immediately.
    • Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.
    • Responsible for taking ATP swabs as needed.
    • Review labels of all production runs. Ensuring proper dating and product are used.
    • Monitor daily allergen sequences and assist production with sequence of production runs.
    • Performs pre-operational checks on equipment as needed.
    • Review daily production paperwork and ensure it is complete.
    • Ensure and monitor all levels of sanitation daily including workstations and employee practices.
    • Ensure HACCP and food safety practices are followed.
    • Ensure the collection of product samples are complete.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:

    • Attention to detail and follow through.
    • Must have the ability to use logical or scientific thinking to solve problems and with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Ability to handle confidential information.
    • Must be knowledgeable of warehouse distribution, safety program, procedures, laws and regulations, sanitation practices and standards.
    • Needs to have some computer experience.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School education or equivalent.
    • Prior food manufacturing or Quality Control experience.

    Physical Requirements:

    This is considered an unskilled position.  Frequent to constant handling, grasping, constant listening, talking, hearing, seeing, reading, dealing with people, influencing others, evaluating information.

    Working Conditions:

    • Duties occur on production floor.
    • Will be required to work under time constraints and be flexible in hours worked.
    • Ability to adapt to changes throughout daily operation.
    • Must have the ability to work independently.

    Equipment Used to Perform Job:

    Photocopier, scale, thermometer and two-way radio.
