Watteredge is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing inspections throughout the manufacturing process, with a strong emphasis on final inspection to ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role requires experience with precision measurement equipment, quality documentation, and manufacturing quality systems.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of manufactured components.
- Conduct AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI) and prepare required documentation.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and 3D Laser Scanners to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Support PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities and customer quality requirements.
- Maintain and verify the status of inspection equipment through the calibration system.
- Record inspection results and complete quality documentation accurately.
- Identify and document nonconforming products and assist with corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements and company procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or quality certification preferred.
- 2+ years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment with the opportunity for career advancement.
- Experience performing final inspection of precision-machined or manufactured components.
- Working knowledge of AS9102, PPAP, and ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Experience using CMM and/or Laser Scanner inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of calibration systems and measuring equipment control.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and interpret GD&T.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with quality documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electrical, power, aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing.
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar certification.
- Experience with ERP systems and statistical process control (SPC).
