Quality Control Technician

Ballston Spa, NY

Salary: $45,000 - $52,000

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join a growing electronics manufacturing organization supporting the transit and rail industry. This role plays a critical part in ensuring products, processes, and suppliers meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on inspection experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

This position is open due to continued company growth and offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative quality team supporting innovative electronic systems used in rail transportation across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Project Quality Support

  • Serve as a primary quality point of contact for customer-related project activities.
  • Support customer audits, inspections, and meetings as needed.
  • Assist with addressing customer quality concerns and audit findings.
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications, contractual requirements, and quality standards.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Support compliance with ISO 9001 standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor quality processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and verify quality documentation, test procedures, and inspection reports.
  • Assist with maintaining an effective Quality Management System (QMS).

Inspection & Quality Control

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of electronic assemblies and components.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and maintain inspection records.
  • Utilize measurement tools and inspection equipment to verify product conformance.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.

Supplier & Material Quality

  • Support supplier quality activities, including evaluations and audits.
  • Inspect materials and components to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Assist with managing supplier-related quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate quality records within SAP or similar ERP systems.

Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify, document, and manage non-conforming materials.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Support Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality concerns.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in a quality, inspection, or manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor"s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with quality assurance, quality control, inspection, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes and quality standards.
  • Experience using measurement and inspection tools.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, automotive, rail/transit, aerospace, or defense industries.

  • Knowledge of IPC standards including:

  • IPC-A-610

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620

  • J-STD-001

  • Experience with supplier quality audits and evaluations.

  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.

  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

This is a Permanent position based out of Ballston Spa, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $52000.00/yr.

2 weeks vacation time (80 hours); health, dental & vision benefits partially paid by the employer; 401k savings plan; Full-time, permanent position.
