    Job Summary

    The Quality Control Technician is accountable for performing hands-on quality control activities in support of manufacturing operations. This position verifies fabricated, machined, formed, welded, painted, purchased, and assembled products meet applicable work order, traveler, blueprint, and internal quality requirements. The role supports production by identifying nonconforming conditions, documenting inspection results, communicating quality concerns, and assisting with containment and disposition activities.

    Essential Functions

    1. Perform receiving, in-process, first-piece, and final inspection activities to verify compliance with drawings, work orders, travelers, inspection plans, and customer or internal requirements.

    2. Inspect fabricated sheet metal, machined parts, press brake formed components, welded assemblies, purchased components, and finished assemblies using appropriate inspection methods.

    3. Measure parts and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, radius gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, fixtures, and other inspection tools as required.

    4. Review blueprint requirements, including dimensions, tolerances, notes, finish requirements, hole patterns, hardware installation, and general fit/function expectations.

    5. Document inspection results, nonconformances, rework needs, scrap activity, and product quality concerns in the appropriate quality records or business systems.

    6. Identify and communicate production quality issues to the Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, Production Supervisor, Engineering, or other appropriate personnel.

    7. Support containment activities by segregating suspect or nonconforming product, applying hold tags or reject identification, and assisting with sorting or re-inspection as directed.

    8. Assist with root cause investigation by providing measurement data, inspection history, production observations, and other objective evidence.

    9. Maintain inspection equipment in good working condition and report calibration, damage, or usability concerns.

    10. Support periodic production audits, spot checks, first article reviews, returned material evaluations, and third-party inspection activities as assigned.

    11. Follow established procedures for reject redistribution, scrap, rework verification, and return processing.

    12. Promote workmanship standards, quality awareness, and continuous improvement within production areas.

    Minimum Qualifications

    · High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, manufacturing coursework, or related certification preferred.

    · 2-5 years of experience in quality control, inspection, fabrication, machining, sheet metal, press brake, welding, assembly, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.

    · Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, travelers, inspection plans, and basic dimensional requirements.

    · Experience using common hand inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and protractors.

    · Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as assembly, machining, forming, press brake operation, welding, finishing, and hardware installation.

    · Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter inspection results, notes, and quality records.

    · Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work effectively with production, engineering, and quality personnel.
