The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Quality Control Technician for a prominent client of ours. This position is located at Compton, CA. Details for the position are as follows:

Quality Control Technician
Pay Rate: $21–23/hr
Location: 20021 Susana Rd., Compton, CA 
Duration: 6 months contract with high chance of extension possibility OR possibility to convert to FTE, not guaranteed though)

Job Description

The Quality Specialist supports quality control operations by performing laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with established specifications and quality standards. This role is responsible for test execution, documentation, equipment maintenance, and quality data management within a regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Perform quality control testing on incoming raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods according to approved specifications and test methods.
  • Calculate, analyze, and report test results accurately.
  • Record and maintain testing data within SAP quality systems.
  • Manage retain sample inventory, storage, and disposal in accordance with retention procedures.
  • Support laboratory operations, including equipment validation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with product complaint investigations, sample testing, and quality-related reports.
  • Maintain laboratory organization and participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP), laboratory procedures, and quality system requirements.
  • Participate in quality meetings and support departmental projects and training initiatives.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

Education

  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Material Science, or related scientific discipline required; OR
  • Minimum 3 years of technical laboratory experience.

Required Skills

  • Quality Control laboratory testing experience.
  • Materials testing, including viscosity testing, melting point testing, and general analytical testing.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, instruments, calibration, and validation activities.
  • SAP experience for quality transactions, test result entry, and quality documentation.
  • Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and quality record management.
  • Sample management, retention programs, and laboratory inventory control.
  • Data analysis, result calculation, and specification review.
  • Experience operating in regulated manufacturing, quality, or laboratory environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical, materials, or consumer products quality laboratories.
  • Product complaint investigation support and root cause analysis exposure.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, SOPs, work instructions, and document management systems.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement, 5S, and laboratory efficiency initiatives.
  • Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety requirements within laboratory operations.
