Quality Control Technician
Peabody, MA
Payrate $20 to 27 an / hour depending on experience
M-F 5: 00 am -1: 30 pm/ or 6: 00 am to 2: 30 pm
* Must be available to work Saturday shifts as needed
* Flexibility to work overtime is required
Qualifications of the Quality Control Technician

Responsibilities of the Quality Control Technician
- The Quality Control Technician is responsible for supporting quality control efforts to ensure that all processing and packaging meet quality and food safety standards
- This role involves conducting inspections, audits, and documentation to maintain compliance with regulatory and internal quality assurance standards
- Additionally, the technician will communicate corrections and educate members of other departments to ensure company-wide adherence to quality and safety standards
- The technician must also be willing to take on additional work as needed to support food safety and quality initiatives
- Quality Control & Food Safety
- Perform routine sampling and auditing of processing and packaging
- Conduct metal detection and gas checks to ensure compliance
- Verify adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety programs
- Follow critical control point (CCP) procedures as outlined in the HACCP program
- Complete pre-operational (Pre-Op), operational and changeover inspections, including ATP and protein swabs
- Segregate and hold non-compliant finished products and ingredients per company procedures
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Conduct daily net weight checks and verify finished product specifications
- Calibrate thermometers and verify scale calibration as needed
- Assist the Quality Systems Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager in initiating and following up on corrective and interim action plans for non-compliance issues
- Follow Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines and help ensure company-wide compliance with SQF standards
- Prepare, mix, and verify proper concentration of antimicrobial interventions
- Facility and Quality Assurance Compliance
- Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with lab-related responsibilities as needed
- Identify and report necessary repairs or adjustments to management
- Help maintain compliance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, Bertolino Foods policies, and government regulations
- Take immediate action to prevent nonconformities in food safety, product quality, processes, and safety systems
- Identify and record any food safety or quality concerns
- Prevent further processing or distribution of nonconforming products until the issue is resolved
- Assist in delivering food safetys training as needed
- Distribution/food manufacturing facility
- Lift and move up to 25 lbs
- Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and sitting
- Visual inspection duties required
