    Quality Control Inspector

    Company Overview

    We are specializing in transmission and distribution and substation EPC projects across the U.S. Our client is known for delivering complex electrical infrastructure projects with a strong focus on safety, quality, and execution in high voltage environments.

    Primary Function The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring all substation and transmission construction activities meet project specifications, engineering standards, and applicable electrical codes. This is a field-driven role working alongside construction leadership to identify issues early, document findings clearly, and drive resolution through completion in a high voltage environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop and implement a site-specific quality control plan aligned with project specifications, substation standards, and engineering designs Perform routine field inspections across civil, structural, and electrical scopes within substation and T&D construction Maintain accurate and traceable documentation of inspections, testing, and QC activities Read and interpret substation drawings, one-lines, schematics, plans, and specifications Verify installation quality of key components including foundations, steel erection, bus work, breakers, transformers, and associated equipment Prepare and submit quality control reports to Construction Managers and clients outlining compliance, deviations, and corrective actions Understand and support execution of inspection test plans (ITPs) specific to substation construction and coordinate with field teams, engineering, and clients Interface with regulatory agencies, utilities, and third-party inspectors during audits and compliance reviews Identify and recommend adjustments to installation or construction processes to meet engineering standards and utility requirements Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and that testing results meet project and regulatory standards Identify, document, and track non-conformances through full resolution, including coordination with field and engineering teams Provide photo documentation of incoming materials and installed equipment, including major apparatus such as transformers, breakers, and control panels, with proper QC documentation attached

    Field-based role in an active substation construction environment May require extended hours and occasional off-hours reporting depending on project needs PPE and strict adherence to safety protocols required at all time

    In substation and T&D construction, quality issues don’t stay small. This role is responsible for protecting the integrity of the system by ensuring work is done right the first time, preventing rework, delays, and long-term reliability risks.

    Requirements:

    Qualifications

    • Experience in transmission and distribution or substation construction projects within an EPC environment
    • Strong working knowledge of substation construction practices including civil, structural, and electrical installation
    • Experience with inspection test plans (ITPs), turnover packages, and quality documentation for utility projects
    • Ability to read and interpret substation drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications
    • Experience identifying and resolving non-conformance issues in high voltage construction environments
    • Familiarity with applicable industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NETA, and utility-specific requirements
    • Strong documentation and reporting skills Ability to operate effectively in an active construction site environment and communicate with field crews, construction management, and clients
