Job Brief
The Quality Director is accountable for leading and continuously improving business-group-wide quality assurance programs for Large Megawatt (LMW) generator integration in a high-mix manufacturing environment. This role drives excellence in quality, regulatory compliance and customer experience while reducing total cost of quality. The position partners closely with cross-functional leaders across Operations, Engineering, Field Service, IT, HR and Sales/Marketing to ensure alignment with business and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise-wide quality strategy for LMW generator integration, ensuring regulatory compliance, alignment to customer requirements, and continuous improvement in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Own and improve LMW customer experience and quality performance metrics, driving cross-functional actions to enhance performance and reduce total cost of quality.
- Partner with C&I manufacturing sites to resolve systemic and day-to-day quality issues, influencing teams to deliver consistent, best-in-class results.
- Develop and execute a multi-year quality transformation roadmap, progressing the organization from Quality Control to Quality Assurance and Process Excellence.
- Establish, deploy and continuously improve the Generac Quality Management System, including standard tools, methodologies, audits and best practices.
- Set product quality goals, metrics and test methods during product design and development; regularly present quality performance and insights to senior leadership and customers.
- Build, lead and develop a high-performing quality organization through effective talent selection, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Coach business leaders and teams to adopt a common vision for quality, continuous improvement and operational excellence across processes and technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of quality leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership background in Quality, Lean, Process Excellence and/or Six Sigma environments.
- Advanced degree (MS and/or MBA).
- Experience operating within a multi-site, matrixed global organization.
- Demonstrated track record of performance, career progression and results within quality or continuous improvement functions.
- Experience leading teams across both direct and indirect reporting structures.
- Certification as a Quality Engineer and demonstrated application of Six Sigma tools and Lean methodologies.
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally and internationally up to 50%.
