Description

Openwork is seeking an experienced Quality Documentation Specialist to join a growing manufacturing team in the Navigation area of Houston.

This position is responsible for maintaining and controlling manufacturing quality documentation, preparing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages, supporting engineering changes, and ensuring compliance with customer and quality system requirements. The ideal candidate has previous experience working within a manufacturing environment supporting Quality Assurance, Engineering, or Production departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and maintain Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation for customer submissions.
  • Manage controlled manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, quality procedures, inspection plans, engineering drawings, and quality records.
  • Maintain document revision history and ensure all controlled documents are current, accurate, and compliant.
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and document revisions while communicating updates to the appropriate departments.
  • Review manufacturing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Support Quality Assurance and Engineering teams with documentation required for new product launches and production changes.
  • Organize and maintain customer-specific documentation, certifications, and quality records.
  • Assist with internal and external quality audits by preparing and providing required documentation.
  • Ensure documentation complies with company quality standards and applicable industry requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams to ensure documentation supports manufacturing operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve document control processes and overall quality documentation systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of controlled documents and manufacturing records.

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality, document control, or quality systems role.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and maintaining PPAP documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation and controlled document practices.
  • Experience supporting Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), or document revision processes.
  • Experience maintaining work instructions, SOPs, inspection plans, quality records, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working within ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience with document management systems or ERP software.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting customer audits and quality compliance initiatives.
Compensation & Schedule

Pay: $25.00–$27.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Navigation Area – Houston, TX
