Job Details

The Quality Engineer is responsible for helping ensure that products and manufacturing processes meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.

This person will focus on preventing quality issues through tools such as PFMEA and control plans, while also leading root cause analysis and corrective actions when problems arise. The role will support supplier quality, warranty review, measurement systems, data analysis, equipment qualification, and ongoing improvements to the quality management system.

Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality
Partner with Supply Chain to select, assess, and monitor suppliers
Determine which purchased products require incoming inspection
Establish incoming inspection criteria, frequency, and sampling plans
Lead supplier containment activities and corrective actions
Participate in supplier scorecard reviews and recommend follow-up actions
Nonconforming Material and Corrective Actions
Work with cross-functional teams to determine the appropriate disposition of nonconforming material
Conduct root cause analysis to resolve internal, supplier, and customer quality issues
Develop, implement, and verify corrective action plans
Warranty and Customer Quality
Work with internal subject matter experts to review customer complaints and determine the appropriate warranty response
Analyze warranty data and prepare metrics to identify trends and improvement priorities
Risk Assessment and Process Control
Partner with Engineering and Operations to assess risk using PFMEA, DFM, and related quality tools
Create and update control plans and inspection plans as process or product risk changes
Participate in design verification and validation activities
Support the qualification of new or revised equipment, including FAT, SAT, measurement collection, and data analysis
Measurement Systems
Perform measurement system analysis, including GR&R and MSA studies
Evaluate and adjust calibration frequencies as needed
Use a Faro Arm and other gauges to support qualifications, calibrations, tooling checks, and dimensional verification
Data Analysis and Metrics
Prepare quality metrics for leadership and process owners
Analyze quality data to help prioritize improvement opportunities
Track trends and recommend areas of focus
Quality Management System
Plan and perform internal ISO audits
Update quality documentation as needed
Help ensure manufacturing processes adhere to applicable control plans and inspection plans
Continuous Improvement
Contribute ideas to improve workflows and manufacturing processes
Track continuous improvement projects and progress against established goals
Participate in improvement teams using Lean, Poka-Yoke, and other quality tools
Support efforts to reduce defects, improve consistency, and strengthen overall process performance
Additional Responsibilities
Follow all safety procedures and requirements
Collaborate with production, engineering, supply chain, and leadership
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer credential, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Two to three years of experience as a Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, or Manufacturing Engineer in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of AIAG PPAP requirements
Experience with statistical quality methods, including SPC and gauge R&R
ISO 9000 or ISO 9001 experience
Lead Auditor training or qualifications strongly preferred
Experience working with suppliers, including audits, scorecards, containment, and corrective actions
Knowledge of DFM principles preferred
Experience with dimensional inspection equipment, Faro Arm technology, or similar metrology tools is a plus

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This is an on-site position in a manufacturing environment. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
