    Position Overview

    The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality procedures, work instructions, and processes that meet customer and industry requirements. This role helps foster a strong culture of quality across the organization while partnering closely with engineering, production, and operations teams to ensure processes consistently meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.


    The Quality Engineer will analyze process and product data, lead root cause and corrective action efforts, support continuous improvement initiatives, and assist with audits and compliance activities. This position also plays a key role in identifying process deviations and implementing effective, sustainable solutions.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Drive continuous improvement of quality procedures and compliance initiatives for finished products.
    • Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including FAI, FMEA, PFD, MSA, Process Capability, Control Plans, Run @ Rate, 8D, and related quality tools.
    • Manage qualification requirements and customer submission packages.
    • Support the Quality Management System (QMS) through internal audits and compliance activities.
    • Review purchase order requirements and ensure appropriate quality requirements are flowed down through the organization.
    • Interpret customer specifications, drawings, and blueprint requirements and ensure they are incorporated into work instructions and manufacturing processes.
    • Develop inspection instructions, including appropriate inspection equipment, methods, and frequencies.
    • Validate and approve inspection methods and techniques to ensure they are effective and reliable.
    • Assist with process routing and operation instruction development, including final review and approval.
    • Lead or facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action using tools such as FMEA, DMAIC, PDCA, and 5 Why.
    • Analyze quality data and collaborate with managers, engineers, supervisors, and production teams to identify and implement process improvements.
    • Support implementation of corrective actions and verify that solutions achieve required quality, reliability, consistency, and cost objectives.
    • Assist with the development and approval of special handling instructions.
    • Provide day-to-day quality support and communication to shop floor personnel.
    • Manage customer-required sampling programs and coordinate sampling approvals when process performance meets requirements.
    • Manage containment and over-inspection activities when non-conformances occur.
    • Review and approve Material Review Board (MRB) documentation.
    • Participate in customer and internal audits.
    • Participate in customer meetings, including kickoff, coordination, review, and closeout meetings.
    • Support responses to customer findings and corrective action requests.
    • Coordinate part samples and documentation with external testing or metallurgical laboratories and review results.
    • Review and approve incoming supplier certifications for assigned products.
    • Manage scrap product for recycling or return as appropriate.
    • Assist with sourcing hardware and other quality-related materials as needed.
    • Conduct legacy product and process reviews to ensure current procedures and instructions meet applicable standards.
    • Assist with training new and existing team members on quality procedures and processes.
    • Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned.


    Required Education & Qualifications

    Candidates should meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field; or
    • Associate degree in a related field with at least 3 years of manufacturing experience; or
    • High school diploma with 8+ years of manufacturing experience.


    Additional qualifications include:

    • Intermediate knowledge of quality and Lean manufacturing tools.
    • Six Sigma Green Belt or comparable training.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to analyze and evaluate data using Minitab.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
    • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Ability to use standard inspection equipment, including micrometers, height gauges, and calipers.
    • Understanding of quality management standards and systems, including AS9100, ISO, and Nadcap.
    • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
    • Strong ability to critically evaluate processes, projects, and quality data.
    • Demonstrated experience applying process improvement and problem-solving techniques.
    • Understanding of internal and external customer requirements.
    • Strong organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
    • Strong accountability and commitment to meeting deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal, written, listening, and comprehension skills in English.
    • Must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements under ITAR, with appropriate documentation.

    Physical Requirements & Work Environment


    This position requires regular movement throughout a manufacturing facility. Employees may be required to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently use their hands, reach, stretch, climb, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and bend.


    The role involves regular computer use and may require lifting or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds. The manufacturing environment may be loud, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.


    Pay: $75,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
