Quality Engineer 
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their manufacturing team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career quality professional who is passionate about manufacturing excellence, process improvement, and delivering high-quality products. In this role, you'll work cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams to strengthen quality systems, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Partner with production and quality leadership to resolve manufacturing quality issues and prevent future occurrences.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support Quality Inspectors and Quality Specialists to ensure products and processes meet internal and customer quality requirements.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction activities.
  • Develop and deliver quality-related training to increase quality awareness throughout the organization.
  • Plan, conduct, and document internal quality audits, including follow-up on corrective actions and audit findings.
  • Create, maintain, and update quality documentation, including:
    • Process Flow Documentation
    • PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
    • Control Plans
    • Quality Work Instructions
    • Quality Manuals
  • Assist with PPAP documentation and production quality planning activities.
  • Support receiving and outgoing quality processes to ensure product conformity.
  • Prepare quality metrics, reports, and documentation for leadership review.
  • Utilize statistical analysis tools to evaluate process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Approximately 1+ year of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of quality engineering tools and methodologies, including:
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • PPAP
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and manufacturing processes.
